You're still thinking about Xbox as a hardware driven gaming division like PlayStation is. Xbox is pretty much software as a service and the hardware simply exist to further that.That’s why I just gotta laugh...all this super consumer friendly talk xbots been on here bragging about the past few months without understanding they get the kickback. World cheapest console, gamepass, halo having free multi-player, Bethesda acquisition....they truly do not understand that Microsoft has to recoup the cost of these things eventually.

The core of Sony's gaming division is the PlayStation console. The core of Microsoft's is Xbox Gamepass which is why you can get Gamepass on hardware other than just an Xbox console and with xCloud.
The hardware centric approach will be phased out gradually. I don't doubt the hardware will still exist but the division will be driven almost completely by software like Microsoft as a company is outside of Xbox.

Sony doesn't have a gamepass service to do it not saying they won't raise a few dollars but it won't be on the level like this. Sony got the userbase to feed them to not make a huge hike like that. That's why If people want to get in the microsoft ecosystem it makes alot of sense to just get a PC and get gamepass then you don't have to worry about this buillshyt.
I'm sure Sony has been racking there brain on how to improve PSnow but without raising the price some or at all. Well no need to worry about that now, not matter how they bundle announce or setup psNow and or Psplus is going to be looked at as a better deal than just a price hike like gold.
Netflix spends billions a year on films for their subscribers for about $15 or less. They have for a long time. They drove up massive amounts of debt for years to grow the service. Once it reached a certain point and people were hooked they gradually raised the price over and over. Microsoft will do that as well. Look at Disney+
The rest of Microsoft as a company can afford Gamepass to be a loss leader for years. Nadella clearly supports this. Phil Spencer brought him around to it. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and Gamepass via XCloud becoming playable on PlayStation hardware. If I were Spencer I'd do whatever I could to get that done. I doubt Sony will allow it like Apple wouldn't allow XCloud on Apple hardware. They'll need to find a loophole to do it in that case.
