They took the price increase to 1st party games on the chin.

But something that effects a smaller demographic of a console they don't play:picard:

Yes, but there are options to mitigate that increased cost. You can wait a couple of months if that, and that price increase won’t affect you at all. What are the alternative options for an increase game subscription/online service?

This is a horrible road to go down...

Towards stans or not, I disagree with your post.
I’m also saying your point about streaming services doesn’t work because those services had incremental increases over years while increasing the value (up for debate for some services) of their tiered product. M$ is literally doubling the price of their service suddenly.

Most companies will increase the price of their service but they do this gradually. A sudden spike as this one shocks your user base and causes many people to abandon your product much more quickly. There is a whole psychology behind this and is taught in intro business courses in college, so it is really head scratching that M$ would do something like this so suddenly.

To your point, what MSFT just did is also a marketing strategy that is taught in business school.

I forgot the actual name of it, but sometimes companies will overprice one product and actively put a less expensive product next to it.

Basically to introduce sticker shock and make the product next to it look even better than it would on its own.

It’s not even that deep. People who are gonna buy an Xbox and just play a couple FTP games aren’t making Microsoft any money. This way they are.

For everyone else there’s better options on how to spend your money with Microsoft

:dwillhuh:

How are they not making money when you need XB: Gold to play ftp games on line?

They made money off 60 a year and they'll make more money off of 120 a year

PS Now is dope all they would have to do is revamp it. Plus PS5 has a thing called PS Plus Collection where they give u a bunch of games for free. U get the games of the month. Plus EA Play is on PlayStation as well. They can expand on any of these options.
They CAN expand on them, but until they announce the will then

and the pitiful offerings on the PS+ collection for PS5 were already made free with PS+

The only way this can have ANY type of realistic silver lining is if they talk about new "family ecosystem type features.

This will be crippling for people who have multiple kids - like myself - but not able to fit the bill.
