And Nas is one of the most Rnb/Soul/Jazz influences rappers of all time, he has countless lines with references to Rnb and Soul singers of yesteryear, I mean he even made a whole track in ‘Blunt Ashes’ dedicated to them, his Dad was a Jazz player and basically from near his inception he’s been collaborating with Rnb singers, any person who is a fan of Nas would know what makes him great is his appreciation for not only older Hip Hop acts but his appreciation for Black music of all generations in general, and Tupac or nearly every GOAT level rapper was exactly the same.

there was a rivalry between rap and r&b back in the day.
and that point in the late '80s/early '90s era, r&b was kicking rap's ass. hence, the reason why ice cube & tribe were throwing shots.
btw, Michael Jackson used to get dissed heavy. altho, he was a pop artist by the time hip-hop got big, and not the same Motown mike that rappers grew up on.

that Russell simmons quote in the beginning, sums up what I was saying about Michael Jackson getting dissed heavy.

and they ignored the fact that '70s & '80s hip-hop always had the singing hooks & such. they tried to just mention whodini as a footnote and claim that they were just suttle about it. I doubt that they even did any research prior to them.

I have no problem with rosenberg's hot takes from his perspective. I find him entertaining actually.
the problem is that his chit usually goes uncontested unless they have an outspoken guest in the room, like when papoose clowned him.
