He doesn't seem to alienate his teammates with unrealistic expectations of what he should get. If Dwight had Joel's skill set throughout the course of his career people would have sided with him for wanting the touches he wanted. The Van Gundy thing was bad it really went bad when he couldn't make it work with Kobe & James. The Kobe thing especially hurt because the narrative became he wasn't committed to winning running alongside another guy who made it work with another big man. Winning or not winning will clearly earn you support or detractors but Dwight was moving like a sucka. Let's not act like there wasn't reports the Hawks were CELEBRATING when the nikka left. Embiid is more self aware than Dwight was. And also Dwight came after Shaq and Yao Ming. While when Embiid came along the center position didn’t have any real standouts. So some see him as a savior for post play.

I'm just speaking in general terms here.

Folks found Dwight funny once upon a time when there was hope of him becoming the next great big (@kingofnyc probably still does), but that soon changed as the perception around his game did. Those "funny" qualities become grating and tiresome because you couldn't attach them to great play. Nobody likes players who have out there personalities who fail to live up to the hype - they become the joke. Just like how folks may find Embiid funny now, because he gives them hope of seeing the next great big man. If he can't stay healthy, or he fails to live up to his hype, nikkas will turn on him too.

You think you'll be laughing at Embiid's humor of clowning players just the same, if he too finds himself in the same boat of players who haven't proven shyt?
