I specifically remember The Ring Magazine naming putting him in the Top 15 of an ATG LW list.

I also remember other writers/analysts putting him up there as a great. Don't remember the specific ones off the top of my head. But I do remember him being mentioned. I'll have to go search to see if I can find more.

It's probably ONE WRITER not RING magazine as a whole. I remember a RING magazine writer wrote an article claiming that Arthur Abraham & Felix Sturm were ATG Middleweights The RING has lost alot credibility & objectivity over the past years for a variety of reasons. But it's not even close to being a consensus on Shane being an ATG at Lightweight. One guy is probably all you can find with that opinion.

Sparring and fighting are 2 different things. You cant let your training partners perception of winning, take out off your game of working fundamentals.

agreed. you need to lose your ego in order to learn. a lot of boxers are monsters in the gym beating on everyone but when it comes to fight night they arent the same.

My cousin was like that. We'd go in the basement and he'd floor me with jabs and hooks. Go to training, beating the daylights out of his training friends. Then when it came time for his first fight, and he was getting punched in the face FOR REAL FOR REAL by someone who wanted put a hole in his head, he never boxed again.

i was the opposite. i got my ass kicked for 3 months straight in sparring before my first fight. even the last sparring session before the fight i got beat up. but i won my first fight. i won my first 3 before losing.
