Haven’t played a more violent immersive game before. You can tell with the flashbacks and such they went for a movie feel. My only real Criticism is how the parts were laid out would of loved to see the flashbacks done differently and maybe reversed to help the story.

First one is a better story , second one is a better game. I find myself thinking about it still

fantastic voice acting, level design, animation, graphics

Felt the story was poorly executed and excessive human gameplay loop completely desensitize the narrative themes and moments. Excessive flashblacks. Weak pacing due to poorly executed narrative. I felt the game needed way more isolation and sorrow in the 2nd half to really settle the emotional weight. The nonlinear narrative felt very contrived and gimmicky. The game completely steps away from the foundation of the original game which was based on realism. It felt like a Walking Dead Episode. They write these characters in a way that completely lacks any survival instinct to facilitate a forced narrative.

It makes for a great casual experience, but Neil wanted to do a complex narrative.Yet, He completely half ass everything. I like the complex narrative, but it created multiple points of failure that Neil completely failed to noticed or didn't care. I'm just more disappointed that the story was so mediocre. The game's story needed more rewrites and refinement. Neil having complete unchecked creative control set him up to indulge in his flaws.

Heavy agree with this post, especially in regards to the story. The writers aren't hacks, but they aren't as clever as they think they are. They seem to be at their best with a straight forward story a la Last of Us 1. The way the story is structured this go round makes it a borderline slog to get through.

Didn't do it for me
Scale of the game didn't feel as huge to me, could care less about the plot cause it went from trying to save the world to two bytches being angry at each other. Great graphics, tight gameplay. It's nothing really special tho, it looks very good but I just don't give a fukk about anybody or what they're all doing, it's just a killing simulator to me.

Story was shallow, gameplay lacking. Loads of missed opportunities to utilise jump scares, similarly, lack of grandiose set pieces ND are known for which could have made for some special scenes.

it’s empty and lacking in a lot of ways, on the plus side Abby and Lev added some much needed emotional weight to it

Oh and my other gripe, the infected in the last of us are uninspired af. They didn't do enough with them imo, cause like, they basically will always have a high reporduction rate and at the age Ellie has become it's probably been so many infected thatve turned completely into spores and such, I'd have to assume the world is even more fukked up.
Like if they make a third one they need to up the stakes and have humanity on its last freaking legs

and not make characters act out of character and do dumb shyt to push the story forward
neil druckmann needs a new team
the reason why the story feels a little off in terms of execution for some people is because most of neil's team, people like bruce and amy, are gone
he is talented but is not as clever as he thinks
I also didn't like the false advertisement with Joel and making it seem like we would be playing as Ellie for most the game. Instead they pulled a MGS2 and force us to play as Abby for 10+ hours (half the game). Next game should be all/mostly Ellie. If they have to include Abby and/or some other character, they shouldn't be playable for more than 20-25% of the game

This thread will be to see at least on here, the ratings from those who PLAYED and beat it.

Anyone who's vocal and gave it an extremely low score should post their PSN profile so we can see if the receipt checks out. If you claimed you watched a few videos or streams, even all the way through the end your opinion on the game is null and void. I already know of a few who will rate low but didn't actually play it lol.

I'd give it a 9.5/10 personally. Lack of MP(as of now) and a certain someone in a flashback yelling had me dying of laughter took the seriousness of the scene down imo :laff:

I had no issue with Abby and understood what they were going for.

Gameplay was sublime. Anyone saying otherwise must have their opinion discarded.

Audio- The terror that enters a room when letting off some of these weapons is second to none.

Graphics-For a PS4 game in 2020, it looked fukking great. obvious technical issues aside, it looked great for the hardware.
Did you have any issues with the story?
Even minor?

I’m saying that you can’t say the game is bad game because of the Story

I’m not talking about people saying it’s a 8 or 9 or whatever

there was people that’s saying this is a bad game because the don’t like the story. Video games don’t work that way
problem is, games like TLOU are an exception. The story drives the game. Just like it did for the 1st game otherwise you would just skip the cutscenes and play the levels
But it would take away the emotional impact the developers are aiming for. For a percentage of people, the story ruins the game for them because TLOU Part 2 like the 1st game is story driven
So of course they will take story into account for a game like this
If the story isn't done right for a story driven game, people are going to feel some type of way

It’s a game. No one would care about the story if the gameplay was ass

TLOU wouldn't be as acclaimed as it was if the story was trash
The story and gameplay are intertwined for TLOU
The story is a major reason why people loved the first game and why a certain percentage of people hate the second one
Like I said TLOU series is the exception because the franchise is completely story driven and why so many people have a special attachment to the series and characters

I'd give it a strong 9 game improves on everything from the first gameplay-wise the controls are responsive and tight, the weapons feel and sound good, the dodge button for melee makes the hand to hand combat more engaging. The added vertically to the encounters really adds a lot variety and options to use your full arsenal of skills and weapons. The violence is even more brutal and visceral than the first one blown off hands, enemies scream in agony as they die. Plus the new clickers. :wow::damn:

I thought was the story was pretty engaging for the most part with my biggest criticisms going towards the pacing
story drags during the first transition into Abby for me especially on my first playthrough. It was too similar to Joel's trip with Ellie in terms of showing each character bond with their paternal figure in their past life.

The game can't get a ten from me though just off the fact they didn't put the factions into the game at launch.

Nothing really stuck out to me as being problematic. Joel got killed because he was lackin and didn't even know why he was being killed, Ellie witnessed it and in an emotional rage wanted revenge. In her quest for revenge, she loses a lot and at the very end while she's about to kill Abby, she stops as Joel in her mind at the moment causes her to reflect and she just lets go. Some people will say "Omg this is stupid! She can kill all these other people and shyt but Abby she let's live!?"
I don't see that as being silly as Abby is literally the one thing she's been on a hunt for since everything started. In her mind Abby is this big brolic bytch that can kill her in a split second but when she finally confronts her, Abby is but a shell of what she thought of in her mind. She gets back to her home and now Dina left her, she's lost two fingers and she probably lost Tommy for the time being and already lost Jesse. I see people saying characters were acting out of character? I'm confused, who was acting out of character? People are ignoring the context of the scenes/story.

Are people forgetting the very context of how things occurred? The beginning of the game when Joel and Tommy finds Abby out in the storm, it wasn't like this was TLOU 1 where they were just outside in the middle of nowhere trying to survive, they had Jackson to go back to. It's been a few years as they said it and they've been mostly peaceful with occasional dealings with infected. To Tommy and Joel, they're like "shyt, thank goodness u guys helped us we would've been dead if it wasn't for you" and they're thinking they about to return the favor and help them come to Jackson. They didn't know those guys were some ex-fireflies with one person in particular with a bounty on Joel's head.

ESPECIALLY if it improves on damn near EVERY facet of the gameplay from the predecessor.
Yup, Idk what's up with dude above talking about the gameplay is ass, that's a laughable claim. The gameplay in this is what I loved the most and most would say was the most obvious improvement. Much better and harder hitting melee, prone/crawling, way more weapon upgrade attributes and enemy AI was much improved. There's not much other games out right now with better gameplay than TLOU2.
