Some of the replies in this thread are exactly why this country is overweight. A lot of people treat eating as an excuse to gorge themselves rather than something to give them the necessary nutrients to have a healthy, functioning body. And we need to stop acting like people eat 2-3 hamburgers and they are suddenly obese. They are constantly choosing to put poor quality food in their body and choosing not to perform any kind of physical activity. Like I said in that Lizzo thread, fat acceptance was an excuse for people to be sloppy :camby: :camby: :camby: :camby:

I told this story before but I came of age in South Texas. I got deployed out of Seattle in ‘11. I’ve never been to the PNW before so when I landed out there and spent a night or two there I’m looking around thinking something is different out here.
:patrice:
It’s not the whiteness or clean air.
:mjpls:
I couldn’t put my finger on it.
:lupe:
Finally I realized there weren’t any obese people there.
:skip:
Generally speaking of course. South Texas is one of the fattest areas in the country. Between being in the south, soul food, lack of walk ability, and boxed shaped, corn fed Mexicans, we are big.
:mjlol:
PNW is the land of thin, in shape people.
:blessed:
The weather and customer service is garbage though. Would not move.
:scust:
Charles Barkley wasn’t lying about South Texas.

God damn, I'm a fit nikka that LOVES BBW's. I should move because I would KILL it in south Texas :banderas:

Do you think people will ever treat food addiction and eating disorders as seriously as drug and alcohol problems? Or do you think it will take a long time for that?

I think it should already be taken as seriously, but unfortunately it’s not, and I don’t think it will. I think people look at fat people as having a lack of willpower, when willpower has nothing to do with it. I didn’t change my life until I approached everything like an addict. I haven’t had sweets in almost three years because I know if I have one cookie, just like if an alcoholic has his first drink, I’m off to the races and I’m back eating sugar again.
This is from a man that had a stroke at 37 and lost a substitutional amount of weight in Jeff Garlin. This should be acknowledged at real addiction and people should stop dumbing it down to it's just poor choices. Nobody does that to drug addicts or alcoholics.

I can easily drink an alcoholic beverage put it down and have no impact on my life. Somebody else if they drink that it could lead to a downward spiral that ruins everything. Having an addiction isn't simply poor choices. Just because something is simple for you doesn't mean it's simple for others.

Portion sizes were significantly different 60 years ago, additionally the additives we have in our foods were different.
The biggest issue is that the majority of our food is processed — fake ingredients…

If you spend a month outside USA/Canada you’ll see how much healthier you become and lose weight without even trying. Plus most ppl drive and sit down all day

I agree, an additionally cities have become less walkable as we have expanded.

I disagree with the bolded. Most people can't afford great quality food, that's the problem led by the junk food industry that was pushed during the 70s and 80s. Leans meats are crazy expensive for the average family. If we really wanted to solve the obesity problem in America we would invest in lowering food prices/quality while putting taxes on junk food

How does this affect your lives or wellbeing exactly?

:rudy:

- wean generations of children on cheap heavily-processed food loaded with addictive sugars, salt, additives you can't even pronounce
- carry all those addictions through adulthood, changing your very DNA in any number of unknown ways
- future generations being born with allergies by record numbers
- increased cognitive/developmental/behavioural problems popping up everywhere
- have the doctors on the back end, all the way down in the cut, waiting with child psychologists, adult therapists, pill factories pumping out more addictions, healthcare costs, insurance costs and managed care schemes...

...but hOw DOes tHIs AfFeCt YuR livEZ ?

Didn't you claim to just have had a child recently?

You'd better wake the fukk up.

I look at anyone judgemental on this topic, the same way I look at people who are overly vocal about gays and transgenders.

What personal issues are you overcompensating for by constantly wanting to dunk on obese people, or by talking about gay people all the time?

Obesity is not healthy. Most people, including obese people, know this. Similar to people who struggle with drug addictions, gambling addictions, or can't get out of a financial rut. The knowledge is easy. The actual effort to break out of these inflictions is not trivial. It's a lot of work. And it's not simply calories in, calories out; your body is made up of complex feedback loops that initially fight your efforts to lose weight or kick addiction. And a lot of people fall short, not for lack of trying.

If you really care about it, why not aim your ire at food companies that deliberately engineer their food to be absorbed faster, to increase cravings and make fighting weightloss much harder? Why not be mad at the existence of healthy food deserts? Why not simply advocate for more healthy, sustainable habits to be promoted at all levels of public life?

The easiest giveaway that these self righteous overcompensating faggits aren't genuinely concerned about obese people's welfare is their reactions when Ozempic hit the market and people started losing weight. It wasn't, "oh this is amazing?". These depraved faggits were mad that obese people were, in their words, "taking a shortcut instead of losing weight the right way". It's not enough for these fatherless faggits that obese people lose weight, no. Obese people have to lose weight in a torturous way that shows that they've paid penance for the sin of being obese in the first place :mjlol:

You have a large amount of people who consider Outback, Olive Garden, and Applebees fancy restaurants. They’re not concerned with healthy food. People start their kids on pizza, nuggets, tenders, burgers, and fries, and pasta, and they want to eat that way the rest of their lives.

Keep in mind fast food workers eat the food where they work. One time I went to Burger King, and when I pulled around, the girl working at the window was so fat, she looked like she was about to pop. Her face and hands were so puffy. Look at most of these fast food worker fight videos.
