Former HVAC tech here. shyt is tough on the body and the hours are long. We had mandatory on call shifts that rotated with coworkers. Driving all over the state for calls and staying late to fix stuff. Hard to get your foot in the door and the senior techs are dikks. Slow months so you’re not making money and a lot of places don’t offer insurance. Still happy I have my certifications just in case I need something to fall back on.

Now im a firefighter which is just as hard physically and do engineering work for a school district. Not sure what the future holds for me career wise ultimately

I'm a felon and I make $33/hr working maintenance at a warehouse. 4 days a week, 10 hour days. If I want OT I just work 12 hours.

I don't think the guy in the OP is working a skilled trade. He's probably just throwing boxes at a warehouse or doing some other shytty job.

College ain't a guaranteed golden ticket. As a teenager I worked at Target stocking shelves alongside people who had Masters Degrees. Plus they gotta pay off student loans for decades.

As someone with high paying trade I’ve been preaching this since day one.

STAY IN COLLEGE

Most ppl who push trades over college are insecure and have a problem/one sided beef with college graduates

There’s more to having a good career than the salary amount

You can’t put a price on work life balance, something trades do not have. Best believe in the trade industry, 60-80 hours of physical labor a week will be your norm

On top of that every trade has a lower barrier on entry than than any serious college profession. If ppl can learn how to do your job and QUALIFY to do it in a year or even less then common sense will tell you it will become over saturated at worst and that your pay will forever remain stagnant at best.
But then again yall don’t have common sense that’s why college was too hard for you.
That guy is more than likely just a laborer and not an actual tradesman. He even says he isn't an electrician (which I am), or a machine operator, something that is PHYSICALLY EASY. I can tell you now while I do work 56 hours a week my TAKE HOME pay is $2200/week and I don't even put my tools on really. It takes 4 years to become a licensed journeyman electrician, it isn't one year it doesn't work that way. Yeah being a laborer fukking sucks and a disproportionate amount of them on jobsites are black. I constantly try to get them into electrical if I can because laborer is a WOAT level job won't even lie.

Which Asians are you referring to?
Asian Americans in general.
From chat GPT
In the U.S., Asian Americans have the highest median household income among racial and ethnic groups. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the latest data shows:

Asian households have the highest median income, typically exceeding $100,000 per year.
Non-Hispanic White households follow, with a median income around $80,000.
Hispanic households earn less, with a median income around $60,000.
Black households have the lowest median income, typically around $50,000

Asian Americans have the highest levels of education in the U.S. among racial and ethnic groups. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Pew Research Center:

Over 54% of Asian American adults (age 25 and older) have at least a bachelor’s degree, the highest percentage among all racial groups.
Among them, Indian Americans have the highest educational attainment, with around 75% holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Non-Hispanic White Americans follow, with about 40% holding at least a bachelor's degree.
Black and Hispanic Americans have lower rates, with approximately 28% and 20%, respectively, earning a bachelor's degree or higher.

I guarantee you those are laborers. People keep confusing hard laborers with tradesmen.

If they're an actual skilled trade in either plumbing, electrical, hvac and still making $12/hr they need to move states. The trades here make $50/hr and only work 40hrs/wk.

This Electrician position pays $77k - $84k

Houston, TX
That nikka in the OP is not a tradesman either
He says it himself
They don't even let him operate machines

OP trolling as usual

Asian is an umbrella term… I promise you Cambodians aren’t making as much as Brahman Indians. There are a lot of factors and nuance that gets left out when making this statement.

Nah. I'm not a little guy though most people don't come at me like that and talk to me with sense. Only time I ever had real issues with somebody that almost came to throwing hands on a job was with another black man. As much as I hate to say it, it usually be your own people.
