TV was GOAT in the early to mid 2010s, TV fell off a cliff in the 2020s.

Everyone and their mother getting a streaming service ruined things. "Poker Face" and "Lioness" are great shows but they are on streaming services nobody cares about.

Morgen Freeman, Zoe Santana and Nicole Kidman are all on the same cast of Lioness but the show is on Paramount Plus :mjlol:
I think TV can make a good comeback if they take risks with the programming and develop their shows.
This kinda like the American comic industry competing with manga. We got over sixty years of Spider-Man, meanwhile Japan dropped maybe hundreds of culturally defining IPs since 1962 that spoke for the times the IPs dropped. Manga artists drop a series, it gets adapted to an anime.
Americans drop television shows. Production costs might be different but the market was tested with the success of the manga.
More important, Japan maintains readership after the anime drops. The culture of the American entertainment industry ain't like that.
More important, the American entertainment industry is hard to get into. I tried my hand at screenwriting once...

I think small cable stations could benefit developing independently made shows from YouTube.
But I think more independent options will be the focus because the internet created those lanes.
Only going to be a matter of time until somebody drop that independent series that hit on all levels.

I think the issue with the American comics in comparison to Japanese comics is that American comics is dominated by superhero genre. Since the popular ones are owned by DC and Marvel, you only get illusions of change and progression because when it is all said and done they fall back to the status quo.
Another thing to consider is that American comics tend to cater to older people that have been reading superhero comics since it's heyday. That fanbase also tends to be constantly complaining online.

Another thing, you usually get more pages for less with manga than you would with comic trades paperbacks.

Part of the enjoyment of tv and movies is the shared experience, being able to enjoy and discuss this media with others.

With streaming everyone is watching something different. What makes it even worse is that when you drop all episodes of something at once, the people who can’t binge watch the material actively try to avoid it due to spoilers. They avoid it for so long that in many cases they don’t go back and watch it in time for the studio to decide to renew it. So now many people don’t even want to watch a show unless it has concluded with an actual ending.

I just watch old movies, the occasional A24 film, and YouTube tbh. Everything else is trash for the most part outside the random FX show.

I never have that "concern" because I purposefully don't pay for streaming apps that have a huge library. I stay away from them. I don't want to be sucked into that

I mainly stream for live sports, and an occasional sitcom or murder mystery. That's it. Never get bored or exhausted doing that

I got a backlog of classic TV series' I missed out on from early 2010s, I'm watching now. I got a backlog of ps3, ps4 games to complete. I got a book shelf of books I need to read too. I'm hitting the gym too

My lady always wants to hang out whenever our schedules are free. I got homies & family I aint seen in ages that I need to hang out with.

I can never be bored.
Well this is a good way of thinking about it.
There's so much choice we get hesitant on just trying things out. Which is the key. Just do it.

I've to read that study and how they define boredom.

I always thought the internet killed boredom.

When I sse the amount of content people watch endessly, I always doubt that people can bored.

Let me read it and see and if it's convincing.
