I dunno, maybe that time Larry Bird was coaching the Pacers? Bill Russell coaching the Celtics?

Larry had a decent pacers squad but im talking great like winning chips...
Bill was a player/coach tho not the same......i don't think there is anyone in the history of sports that was great at both like HOF player/coach

Well he also need to get Chandler Lawson. Penny can get Chandler Lawson by rehiring his Father as an assistant coach.
And I think DJ Jeffries will decommit from Kentucky if Wiseman signs with Memphis.

The only thing that concerns me is size. They're going to play full-court press, uptempo basketball. Its going to be fun to watch, no doubt. But not having a legitimate 4/5, might hurt when it comes tourney time. I still expect them to finish top 2 in the conference though and a nice seed in the Big dance.

yes, indeed. that's why i hedged it with basically. i think they get lawson if they really want him (does he want them given the history) & also keeping an eye on how his brothers do @ ku. but they are really pressing the 2019 front court one and done types (watford/hurt/wiseman) and rapidly running out of scholarships. should be interesting to see it all shake out.
i'm not local, but the ties don't seem to be as strong with jeffries and tj moss. did they even want moss? regardless, they got a similar ranked player in boyce and a similarly skilled 4 star player in jones at the same position. plus people are saying that penny's son is nothing to sneeze at. i like what they wound up with but we'll see.
Jeffries wanted to come to Memphis but Tubby Smith gave Jeffries Father the cold shoulder.
So, he committed to Kentucky a week or 2 before Penny became the head coach.But I think Jeffries is going to follow where ever Wiseman goes.
And you might be right about TJ Moss. I don't think Penny recruited him as well.
