Naw, what happen?
1st, people are writing that wiseman could reclassify and play this season, which would make sense with almost everybody leaving the hs, including c. lawson, who is xferring to oak hill.

also, espn did a piece on the lawsons basically as the next lavar/ball family. and even though the fam has generally said positive things about the relationship, it seems that penny doesn't really rock with them like he used to, although that may be coming from up above & due to the sordid history. so it doesn't look good for them/cousin dj jeffries going there as was discussed. plus they are recruiting "better players" at their positions, effectively putting them on the back burner.

lastly, the father recently did allude to a possible preferential treatment of wiseman, also admitting that he hasn't talked with penny in months. this thing is gonna be interesting, because penny is inevitably going to have to tell some memphis kids no.

Its crazy how a dude like this gets forgotten... when sooo many ppl, especially lil kids from the hood use to luv him. 1 of my favorite players to ever play.
Im happy things still going well for that Legend....
Muthafukin Penny

Penny was my favorite player growing up. I didn't realize it until recently, but I got 3 different Penny t-shirts in my closet (Mitchell & Ness jersey, Nike t-shirt and an NBA Jam shirt with him & Shaq) :wow:

That is interesting.

I guess Penny feels as if Keelon Lawson Sr. comes with future problems. But having Keelen Sr on the staff would guarantee all of the top Memphis area basketball players. :yeshrug:

You make a good point about Penny saying no to some Memphis basketball players. I kinda knew something was up when Penny didn't go after TJ Moss. I guess he know these players and their baggage more than we do.

Antwann Jones is a better player than TJ Moss tho.:yeshrug:

I agree with this, but it's more on AD Tom Bowen. Bowen and Keelon got bad blood now since the Tubby fiasco when he was demoted during his tenure at Memphis. Now Keelon has publicly given a F*** you to the U of Memphis athletic administration and that puts Penny in a awkward spot since he's the head coach of the Tigers and just recently coached Chandler. He essentially used his boys as bargaining chips, yet I don't understand a guy like Keelon. He says he's a Memphis faithful but secretly wants to see Penny look bad with the recruitment of Chandler and Johnathan (the youngest son) in the future so he can "poison" the local talent away from the University of Memphis due to his pull in the AAU circuits.
This is not even touching the surface of when Dedric and K.J. (who now plays for Kansas) were having run-ins at Penny's practice facilities and in the local news. (K.J. being the hothead he is) Honestly, I don't like the way the ESPN article is hyping Keelon as the next LaVar Ball, because local circles knows his wife Dedra is the one who pulls the strings as far as the Lawson brothers goes.

It does create a sense of competition with the local Memphis talent to now garner the attention of Coach Penny to be a honor to play for the Tigers, pending on his collegiate coaching success. Based on Penny's ambition, I love to see what he does and support him as the next generation of college coaches.:blessed:

5-star forward Jeffries decommits from Kentucky

Forward D.J. Jeffries reopens recruitment after decommitting from Kentucky

Five-star forward D.J. Jeffries announced Monday he was decommitting from Kentucky and reopening his recruitment.

effries, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Olive Branch High School (Mississippi), committed to Kentucky back in March, choosing the Wildcats over Alabama and Mississippi State.

Jeffries was coached on the AAU circuit by Penny Hardaway last spring and summer, and played for the same AAU program this past grassroots season.

When Hardaway took over for Tubby Smith at Memphis, there were rumors that Jeffries could decommit and flip to the Tigers, but he stuck with his commitment at the time.

The No. 19 prospect in 2019, Jeffries averaged 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit for the Bluff City Legends this season.

With Jeffries now back on the market, Kentucky is down to one commitment in the 2019 class, five-star guard Tyrese Maxey. At No. 7 in the ESPN 100, Maxey is the highest-ranked prospect presently committed.
