But the two of you (for the record, two of my 3 least favorite coli posters ever) need to remember it was a criminal coverup perpetrated by the football program, to protect the football program, for decades so the program could make money and succeed.

They NEED football program punishment for that. The ncaa can not sit idle knowing this happened in light of the petty things they have punished for.

That's what I'm saying. The program basically said let those kids lives get ruined so there would be no national outcry and they could go out and beat Michigan and ohio state every week.

Will NCAA self-impose sanctions on itself for lack of control in naming Graham Spanier to chair Emmert's Group on Athlete Welfare? Hmmm.

Exactly, this isn't the science department or the Penn State school of dentistry raping little boys, this was a football coach, and the school cover that sh1t up.

Im sorry, but raping boys and getting tattoos are not equal.

It's strategic for PSU to get their NCAA punishment now withOUT further investigation or negotiation. Just stipulate to the bad facts in the Freeh report, get the punishment nailed down, and move on with PSU life.

In late July or early August, the perjury trials of Curley and Schultz will begin. Those two guys and Spanier and Sandusky and others could cut plea deals, spread the blame around, and/or spill the beans about
--the district attorney who disappeared (no statute of limitations on MURDER)
--the 2nd Mile files that are missing
--other molester/pedo people (boosters? cops? donors? foster parents? mentors to fatherless minors? trustees? coaches? admin at PSU? admin at 2nd Mile?)
--other molestation victims
--other witnesses like McQuary and the janitors and the boys

More bad facts and horror stories and skeletons could burst forth at any moment, so don't delay and DON'T DIG DEEPER, PSU. O_o

The fact that people are really saying that stopping sports just shows how unfair shyt is. NCAA has to be hard on this school.

A couple of months ago, ALL sports at Howard Univ were suspended for book vouchers. Kids couldn't register for classes, many didn't know if they were gonna be able to attend school next year, they could not compete, etc. all because of book vouchers.

People have been molested and sexually abused over years in a scandal hidden by university officials and there is some doubt as to whether they should be shut down? :beli:

I forgot all about that shyt at Howard, but you already know why the NCAA didn't have a problem stopping shyt there...:mjpls:

But honestly, as much as the media has been harping on some kind of "unprecedented punishment" for PSU, the loss of bowl eligibility for a few years and X # of scholarships lost seems just par for the cost to me...

And it's why most people in the nation see that place as a fukking joke blinded by football...

Grambling seeks to have Paterno wins vacated - Chicago Tribune

The city attorney and mayor of Grambling, La., sent a letter to the NCAA asking it to vacate some of Joe Paterno's wins so Grambling State's Eddie Robinson could again hold the record for the most Division I football victories, the Shreveport, La., Times reported.

Robinson had 408 wins at Grambling State, and Paterno had 409 while at Penn State.
City attorney Pamela Breedlove sent a three-page letter to the NCAA on Wednesday explaining its case.

"Even though it was done by outside counsel, the Freeh Report was the university's report," Breedlove said, according to the Shreveport paper. "It said what their employees, including coach Paterno, did wrong. We're hoping the end result of this is coach Robinson will get his record back so everyone will think a great man holds this record."

The letter, written along with Grambling mayor Edward Jones, claims the cover-up involving the Jerry Sandusky child-abuse case violates NCAA constitutional articles 2.4 and 6.4 as well as operating bylaws articles 2.4, 11.1.1 and 11.2.1.

Paterno was fired by Penn State less than two weeks after breaking Robinson's record.

"Right after (Paterno) broke the record, they let him go," said Grambling State football coach Doug Williams, who played for Robinson and replaced him as the Tigers' coach in 1998, told the Shreveport Times. "That's interesting. A lot of people have reservations about the timing. The NCAA definitely has to review it and look at it. I'm a little biased toward coach Robinson, but the timing (of Paterno's firing), if it had happened at the end of the year, it would have been something different."

"Like everyone else, we are reviewing the final report for the first time today," NCAA vice president of communications Bob Williams said in a statement issued Monday. "As president (Mark) Emmert wrote in his November 17th letter to Penn State president Rodney Erickson and reiterated this week, the university has four key questions, concerning compliance with institutional control and ethics policies, to which it now needs to respond. Penn State's response to the letter will inform our next steps, including whether or not to take further action. We expect Penn State's continued cooperation in our examination of these issues."
