His defensive impact alone. I live in Orlando, so the only games we get unless it's nationally televised are magic games. Dwight was a fukking terror before his back injury. Averaging seemingly at least 13 boards a night, swatting or chasing away everyone and everything. Guy was unreal. Most big men are shytty at the line though. As is he still shoots 5% better at the line than Shaq did, so we should keep in perspective how bad some centers are at the line. His post game isn't anything special, but the way the game is played and officiated these days, you can't dump the ball of on the low block and let your center isolate like it was before zone defenses. Howard peaked at 22.9 points/14.1 rebounds(4 offensive)/ 1.4 assists/ 1.4 steals/ and 2.4 blocks a game with 3.6 turnovers a night shooting 59.3% from the field and 59.6% at the line. Alonzo peaked at 20.1 points/ 11 rebounds (3.6 offensive)/ 1.6 assists/ 0.7 steals/ 3.9 blocks/ 3 turnovers per game while shooting 51.1% from the field and 65.2% at the line. He was defensive player of the year twice compared to 3 for Howard. Looking at all of these, I would say at his peak, Dwight might have been a more impactful player. Offensively though no doubt Alonzo had a more well rounded game. His foul shooting fell off hard after leaving the hornets for some reason though. Went from the high 70's to mid 60's.
