Nas didn't make Stan he reacted to it.
He didn't make Stan but he made it a verb. There's literally NO debating this. He called someone a "Stan" and it blew up on internet message boards until it got popular in pop culture. This is a FACT. Eminem made a song called Stan about a person. Nas made it something u call someone.

So is your argument Eminem isn't responsible for Stan? Stan was a known quantity when Nas referenced it it's not some obscure song he brought to light.

nikka are u not paying attention? Stan was a song. Yes. Nas turned it into a verb and a phrase to describe and call somebody. He made the way the term is used today popular. Not Eminem. Stan was a character in the song. Nas took that and called someone that.

classic song- just a really dope joint. that's a bold claim to make- eminem and mac miller i think may some better but i always loved sittin' sideways from the first time i heard it.

paul wall was always underrated to me- smooth flow and delivery as a rapper. i never heard that swangin in the rain joint before- that one is tough also.

Paul Wall is cool but have you listened to Woodie? :patrice:

NorCal legend. White Norteno. Produced all his own music and had collabs with other Bay legends.

Has a Norte homie locked up for life over a shooting he didn't do. Had another Norte homie whose family and him were killed by the cops during a raid but they blamed him for doing a murder-suicide.:mjcry:

Woodie's shyt sounded so different. If they would have let him blow up, Hip Hop would have been changed forever. They really held back his wave. :lupe:

His own death is mysterious. Cops claim it was suicide but everyone says it was a murder. Most likely an inside job and possibly involving the cops too. At the least they covered up the truth about his death. This man really had powerful forces after his existence.

I don't understand why Nortenos got it so rough in Hip Hop when it's the Surenos that have the racist streak. Politically it would make sense for Black LA rappers to prop up the Nortes, who they have better relations with, if it can weaken their mutual opps.

I've seen quite a few ppl arguing about this. They are either trying to discredit Nas or super Em Stans (pun intended)

I think it goes by era. In the modern era it goes to Paul wall
I think the early 2gs and late 90s went to Eminem and I gotta put house of pain up there. I know yall not gonna feel me but on some pure hip hop shyt jump around is a classic for white rappers.

There's a lot of honorable mentions, Jack harlow got some shyt, lil dikky even, my underground hip hop nikkas familiar with rugged man and vinnie paz, but nothing really rang off with black people the way sitting sideways did in my area growing up. BIG POKEY... AND PAUL WAALLL BABEH.
