A few years back, Benny Hinn denounced the teachings that made him rich too, saying he was "correcting my own theology," because how he reads the bible now isn't how he read it 20 years ago

These folks must know something I don’t about the afterlife, because purposely misleading millions of people earnestly looking for spiritual guidance is a grave sin in the Bible.

WHERE TF IS THE THREAD WE WERE POSTING IN EARLIER ABOUT THESE WAYWARD RELIGIOUS FIGURES?! The Pope thread!

Of course he comes clean after he already has all their money!

Tithing can be anything you have to offer: money, food, goods, etc. Whatever you can give. Doesn’t have to be monetary.

They would know that if they read the Bible themselves.
Ding ding ding.

Hard to fall for them tricks if you read your Bible. Folks picking churches out for the wrong reasons. They get jaded, but it’s really a situation where you have to look at yourself and question the decisions you’re making

:yeshrug: I give my $20 at the church I attend every other week. I trust they are doing the right thing with it, but if their not, oh well, it’s $20, but nikkaz really giving a portion of their pay check weekly to the church, no sir :francis:
You give what you realistically can, and it doesn’t even have to be money. It can be time that you give as a tithe. Helping your community, helping those around you that are in need. If you have a skill you excel in, you can help out around the church and community. These wolves are purposely twisting the word, and making it seem as if money is all you can give

I agree. My church actually does great community work and I’ve volunteered with them as well. But even the pastor be on that “give your 10%” and those extra offerings they try to slide in during the service :mjlol:

I understand the church has bills, so I have no problem throwing them $40/Month, it ain’t hurting me at all.

Your pastor isn't even entitled to receive tithes because tithes were for the Levitical priesthood who could have no inheritance and tithing was FOOD, not money. There was a situation where you could change your tithe for money when the place to deliver the tithe was too far, but in that instance the Bible says use that money to buy what your heart desires. Most people don't read or study the Bible themselves, so they can get fleeced by the unscrupulous.

It's supposed to keep the church operational, not line the pastor's pockets.

Mega Churches always have and always will be dogshyt.

Rural Churches be needing that money.

This goofy motherfukker, and many others mega church pastors like him, are just fleecing the congregation.

I knew a girl who would calculate 10 percent of her income for the church, I pointed out how silly she was struggling to make ends meet while her pastor drove a fukking Ferrari. The final straw for her was the pastor wanting her to pay $10,000 to read the vows at her wedding after years of donations to the church.

Religion is a scam.

Most people don't read or study the Bible themselves, so they can get fleeced by the unscrupulous.

I think the tradition within Christianity stemmed from the Catholic Church where priest and nuns, who modeled themselves after the Levitical priesthood, had to take vows of poverty and renounce all worldly possessions, so the only thing they relied on to sustain themselves was the tithes and alms that people gave which over the years became mandatory.

After so many church splits, the tradition carried over to the Protestant churches.

Within the black church it was sorta the same, early preachers who traveled around to multiple churches around the south had to rely on love offerings people gave to make ends meet because there were not getting paid. They had to rely on people giving them food, shelter, and so on.

The difference with these new age ministers is that they are not priest who took vows of poverty and neither are they the ministers of old who didn’t have income. New age ministers operate their churches like corporations where they get salaries plus have a number of money making vehicles such as their own media, books, real estate, on top of getting multiple tax deductions. These ministers are not taking vows of poverty like Catholic priest because they subscribe to the prosperity gospel, so from the jump their interpretation of scripture will be skewed especially when they interpret based off the tradition of the Church. Tradition aside, their situations are different from early church leaders so you can’t interpret scripture the same way.

Myself and my own.
This is called the double dip

You milk one community dry, then you go on a apology tour walking back everything you originally said and milk the next generation that’s a little bit more aware of the game

It won’t be very long before black churches began to welcome LGBT with open arms (and pockets)

Gay couples = Dual income, no kids

:blessed: you young rich queers are always welcomed in the FAMILY congregation
I was wondering what brought about this change. Informative.
