I don't know if this was already said but...I honestly believe that "prime Tyson" is a myth. How the fukk is he the only fighter that was out of his prime by his mid-twenties? That makes zero sense. Most fighters don't even hit their so called "prime years" until 29-30. That's when they're at their absolute best. In reality, Tyson won most of his early fights before he ever stepped foot in the ring, which makes Cus D'Amato a genius.

Boxers with aggressive frantic pressure paced styles usually have shorter primes physically and burn out quicker. Fighting like that takes an extra toll on the body. Manny is one of the few dudes out there with a similar aggressive style that was able to have a longer career at the top. nikkas like Tyson, Frazier, Pryor, etc didn't have long physical primes.

Due to his loss of focus and training, he was already entering the end of his prime going into the Douglass fight. We didn't see it completely slip cuz he went to jail, but once you get them type of years your prime is pretty much done anyway.

Me personally, when someone says prime Tyson, I immediately think about the one that fought Berbick or Pinkleton Thomas.

Breh, it's not like he's been through countless wars by the time he went to jail. Why would his style take a toll on his body? If anything, he took a lot less punishment than the average boxer. I'm sorry, but no professional athlete hits his physical prime at 19-20 years old and then starts falling off at 25-26.

What can I say breh.

Boxing is a unique professional sport. All boxers take punishment and he started out at a young age doing it, that shyt adds up. Not just the pro fights, but the gym wars and sparring you do in camp. Plus, we all know he used to party a lot, drink , do drugs, smash mad chicks, basically dude wasn't Hopkins outside of the ring. All that shyt catches up to you. Then factor in a prison stint, that's a lot to overcome breh, but :manny:

I understand where you coming from though so it's all good.

LL wasnt unbeatable, the mental edge Roy had over his opponents would have closed and surpassed that physical gap IMO

Shame Roy lost that unshakable mental edge over a few pre fight words,, what your excuse gonna be tonight Roy, you could tell Tarver had Roys's soul after that
Retarded a light heavyweight betting a true heavyweight nikka that like a pit bull fighting a bear

:ohhh: makes sense to me considering how Taylor looked physically after the bell/was going forward after the fight.
the way that chavez transformed mel with those punches was strange because it was a lot of damage that seemed to come from nowhere. the damage seemed bizarre relative to the punishment mel was taking. gunboat smith said he was wearing loaded gloves when he ripped jess willards ear off with a right hand. thats a bizarre injury that a boxing glove should not have an ability to do. antonio margarito is the only guy not named gunboat smith that has ever ripped a mans ear off in a fight that i know of and is a guy that was busted for using loaded wraps. maybe thats a coincidence. maybe its not. i know that the damage from margarito cotto looked a lot like the kind of damage from chavez taylor. maybe that was a coincidence too. gunboat smith said he had insulation tape wrapped across his hands and the horse hair padding would thin out and dissipate from punching exposing the wraps underneath in just a few rounds. he said everybody back then was fighting with loaded gloves and getting away with it. i think loaded gloves are something that was always part of boxing and i think it probably always will be.

Boxing is the most psychological and mentally demanding sport there is (along with top level combat sports) one on one battle n you make the wrong move you lose more than points

when garica knocked out khan with a neck punch and knocked down zab with an arm punch moving backwards i think you have to suspend the physics of boxing to make that make sense. there was something about the physics of those punches that looked so so wrong. i think the physics of garcias punches look about how they should now. i think the physics of julian jacksons punches were very screwy. its something a lot of boxing fans would never question because they dont understand the physics of throwing punches. when you know how a punch generates power to hurt a man these things drive you crazy.

i think a lot of the guys coming up cheat. i think its easy to get away with some cheating fighting on a smaller promotion or fighting in a foreign country that doesnt have a strong commission because the motivation to cheat would always outweigh the penalty for cheating.

David Haye was a waste of space..

Not buying the Danny Garcia hype...

Ricardo Lopez is one of the greatest Mexican fighter of all time....

B-Hop beats all MW except for RJJ...

Paul Williams would beat Canelo...

Adonis Stevenson is trash...
