I don't know if this was already said but...I honestly believe that "prime Tyson" is a myth. How the fukk is he the only fighter that was out of his prime by his mid-twenties? That makes zero sense. Most fighters don't even hit their so called "prime years" until 29-30. That's when they're at their absolute best. In reality, Tyson won most of his early fights before he ever stepped foot in the ring, which makes Cus D'Amato a genius.
people always believe a fighters prime or peak period is 25-30, i disagree with that theory. i don't believe there is a general age for a fighters prime. you can say that physically but as far as overall skill, guys like juan diaz(peaked at 24), pavlik (25) and vargas (peaked at 22-23), that's young. Sergio martinez on the other hand prime was clearly in his mid 30's. I can add lennox lewis to the list as well. lennox lost his athletic ability as he went into his 30's but his strength was always his intelligence and power. he gained more experience and got better as years went by and became an elite fighter at heavyweight. alot of people think his prime was in the holyfield fight (his 30's)
