Because they think it's cool. That's all it is. There are millions of people with the same lot in life who don't choose that path. The majority of people on this fukking planet are poor and disadvantaged yet are not gangbangers. And on the flipside I personally know black people who were NOT born into those conditions who participate in the shyt. I know kids who got everything they wanted on christmas and have weekly allowances who sell weed and pills just to say that they "trap" or to impress some bytches. I know suburban nikkas who had full time jobs get put in the pen for robbery.
Grown men who drive to their corporate office in the morning and tweet "omw to the trap"
All this and nikkas wonder why a 13 year old black kid probably 20 minutes away from a university can't fathom college yet poor african kids millions of miles from american soil can. My main beef isn't with the bangers themselves, those nikkas are lost and are squandering their own future. It's the nikkas who glorify the shyt, the bytches who think it's cute and the notion that this shyt is unquestionably "black". That's what influences these kids. They know they won't get the same level of respect saying they wanna be a firefighter or lawyer than they would a d-boy so the other shyt doesn't even register as an option. Maybe they know they're more likely to be called a uncle tom if they do any honest profession but will be black without question if they thuggin.
Yall (as grown folks) are to blame for this.
