what difference does it make? To get inside before everyone else? I never saw what the big deal was...

Also, why don't people collectively get together to chase and knock down the person who does these kind of things? We have gotten soft man.

to appease my American sense of instant gratification...other then that :manny:

do you consider the occasional death for people standing too close acceptable? this is why your country is so rich yet so stagnant these days. they should use some of that stimulus money to put in some damn changes

*raises hand*

I'll say it. Yes, I do consider it acceptable. The few deaths we get every year are absolutely worth the convenience we reap from the subway system.

But... This is still a good idea.

I don't mean 'is it acceptable to have a few deaths instead of the subway being shut down", I meant "is it acceptable to have a few deaths instead of putting in some railings"

Woman accused of murder as a hate crime in NYC subway push death - CNN.com

A 31-year-old Bronx woman has been charged with second-degree murder as a hate crime in the death of a man shoved in front of a subway train, Queens prosecutors said Saturday.
District Attorney Richard A. Brown identified the woman as Erika Menendez. She was awaiting arraignment.
"(She) said in sum and substance 'I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I've been beating them up,'" the prosecutor said in a statement.
The victim, Sunando Sen, grew up in a Hindu family, his roommate said.
Witnesses said a woman paced the platform and talked to herself Thursday evening shortly before pushing the man as the 11-car train entered the station. The 46-year-old man's body was pinned under the second car after it came to a stop.
The woman made "statements implicating herself in the death of Sunando Sen," Paul Browne, the New York Police Department's chief spokesman, said earlier. Security video showed a person running from the scene.

can the people of NYC stand a little further away from the tracks?

The times I've been there, the people stand damn near inches away even as the train come thru flying at full speed.
Made me nervous...like what if ur bag or something snags on the train from up that close....you're a goner.

If you stand a few feet further back, nobody can just come push you easily over the ledge.
