I can't think of a single remake this decade that has actually done well either critically or commercially
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
Debate over whether that is a remake.

But I'll allow it

It is. But it did what this version needs to do. Like the 80s The Thing was to the original.

The idea of transplants has advanced since that movie but if they just make it a cop/ criminal again it will fail.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
Technically this was a sequel/reboot, not a remake.

But yeah, all these action movie remakes don't do shyt. Robocop, Point Break, Total Recall, all soulless watered down PG-13 crap.

This stuff could only work if they let an actual visionary director (not one of these rookie lames that get touted on trailers as visionary because they made one semi-popular movie) just go apeshyt with it. Like total freedom to make it as good or bad as it possibly can be. Often it will end up at least offering some of both sides so the shyt will be memorable.

I’m tired of the reboots. This one has no reason to be rebooted as it’s a film designed for the actors, imho. Travolta was basically trolling Cage once the characters switched in the movie. You can’t beat that type of chemistry/interplay.

Anything else would be just a way to generate money quick off of past nostalgia
