I don't think they necessarily want black males as the face of homosexuality. They want to basically cross off two boxes (black and gay).
If you notice on tv shows now, the minority character is not just the minority, they have some other factor (gay, autistic, disabled, foreign (british)) attached to them.
I will say I didn’t expect it and also him popping up in the dress he legitimately showed he’s willing to play the game.
