its not just arranged marriages, but cousin marriages are another major problem over there. in places like saudi arabia, iraq, pakistan half the people are literally inbred.

i think a lot of their social problems would be solved if they modernized, became more lax w/ religion, and allowed drinking. religion can be useful as a psychological tool (less worries) but its not based in reality.
the maps of countries w/ cousin marriages & nations that don't drink are almost exactly the same. these are all countries that no one in their right mind would ever visit.
