False dichotomy. ALL people who wanted a single payer system support that clause.

You are cherry picking.

Not really. Im talking about benefits of the plan which out weigh whatever chump chage is coming out of your paycheck.

I guess if you are self employed and have your own insurance i could see how this would bother you because obviously you dont care aout everyone else

I could see how if you are self employed and just dont want insurance at all i coudl see how you wouldnt want this.

I also see how this will benefit you in the event your insurance company tries to play you about a condition they dont plan on covering, a condition you are now guaranteed treatment because of Obamacare.

Ultimately, you will come to appreciate Obama care are you become old, feeble and on deaths door.

See, this is proof that you care more about Obama's legacy than real change. You already predict this law will be our only chance at health care for decades to come. You already gave up seeking real change and helping everyone with a real health care system.

Good. Obama won. I'm happy that brings you joy in life. I don't care though.

I wish he had won and provided some real. A 21st century plan and system.

I'm just wondering, with all this talk about "opting out," if anyone deigned to mention that the opt out clause was in the original law, with the provision that states had to create their own equal plan in doing so.

Unless any of that changed, I don't see why people are getting pissed about this.

Im not sure why you are insulting me over support of a law but i think you need to show some more respect and maturity in this conversation. Honestly you are annoying me with the language you're using when im trying to talk to you like a man. You are making that difficult.

Anyway. Im not concerned about obamas legacy. I didnt vote for him and have no party affiliation. I can still see the benefit of the plan and see that its benefits outweigh the money i will be paying for it. We're helping a lot of Americans here and people who would have died without this plan. The plan is not perfect and hopefully provisions can be added to make more people happy. As is, its better then what we had and its nothing you should be insulting me about.

These same people will ask for an OPT back in clause when they're insurance company tells them they wont cover their preexisting condition or puts a cap on their health care. When they're begging their family members for money to save their life they're all going to be like :what: *why didnt you just participate in Obamacare*

So...how much is that tax gonna be? :to:

I'm interested in this too....I heard once it would be like $5,000 or $12,000 for a family of 4 every year, but then this morning I read something about only 1% increase on taxes....I'm confused too.....like I said, you going to have to give this a few days for folks to break this down....cause I guarantee its going to be some aspects that's going to have folks saying :ohhh: :whoo:

The tax range from about 1% - 2.5% of your income...only if you choose not to get insurance.

I need numbers broken down...like can you give me an exact example?

8. Calculation of Individual Mandate Penalty(Tax)

If an applicable individual fails to purchase an insurance plan in one of the many ways allowed, the individual must pay a penalty. Id. § 5000A(b)(1). The annual penalty will be either: (1) a flat dollar amount, or (2) a percentage of the individual's income if higher than the flat rate. Id. § 5000A(c)(1). However, the percentage-of-income figure is capped at the national average premium amount for bronze-level plans in the Exchanges.[fn53] Id.

The flat dollar penalty amount, which sets the floor, is equal to $95 in 2014, $325 in 2015, and $695 in 2016. Id. § 5000A(c)(2)(A), (c)(3)(A)-(C). Beyond 2016, it remains $695, except for inflation adjustments.[fn54] Id. § 5000A(c)(3)(D).

The percentage-of-income number that will apply, if higher than the flat dollar amount, is a set percentage of the taxpayer's income that is in excess of the tax-filing threshold (defined in 26 U.S.C. § 6012(a)(1)).[fn55] Id. § 5000A(c)(2). In any [*1260] event, the total penalty for the taxable year cannot exceed the national average premium of a bronze-level qualified health plan. Id. § 5000A(c)(1).

That's if nothing is adjusted in the law in the future and stays as is.
