After watching that, we need an :exhausted: smiley....... Shiit just reinforces the fact that this bill is 1,200 pages. So many aspects to this thing.

The last question asked by the audience was a good one, something like...... "How many of the older physicians, especially, will abandon ship and leave the profession now"

Listen to a caller call in after the show. Lady says she read 600 pages of it and says there will be death panels.......................:chewinggum:

I mean will there be rationing??

Next lady calls in. She asked that she is concerned about employment, b/se she would think small businesses would be unsure if they should hire or not.

Is this going to hurt small businesses?

I had to read a portion of the bill when it first passed for one of my fields for a presentation on the factors of treatment of high cost medicare beneficiaries and if the bill would help bend the cost curve w.r.t to them, since the top 25% of spenders (those with multiple conditions) in the program accounted for 85% of total spending and damn was that bill a chore to read and I didn't even read half I think.

The legalese and convoluted words had me straight :why:. It couldn't have been any good law and economics professors that was consulted to help draft that bill.

How do you figure that Providers have anything to gain from this? They will be required to service more people, for more services that they aren't getting paid for, like preventative maintenance. Then on top of that, the services they can provide are paid at a discount rate. At the most they are getting a tax deduction but it's nothing compared to the money the COULD be making.

I feel like Jesus just died for the third time when I heard this passed.

America will never be the same.

How do you figure the Insurance companies will benefit when they will be forced to cover people will pre-existing conditions which means they have to pay out more claim dollars for those people. So even if the individual pays a higher premium, they still will be using up more insurance dollars than they are paying in. Not to mention the act established out-of-pocket maximums for the individual equaling more money the insurance companies have to pay out.

This act is going to hurt EVERYONE all around and honestly it's supposed to. Health Insurance coverage is not going to be 100% fair for everyone involved but if you can obtain 40-50% happiness on all ends, that's good imo.

I think the theory is that most of the new people are people that are younger and not as sick, that's the people the insurance companies make money from

I think that's what they (insurance companies) are hoping for. but I think they might find themselves getting hit with a mob of people that have been avoiding healthcare because they feel they can't afford it

Yes but you still have a bunch of sick people that will suck up the money. It will never get to a point where the insurance companies will be dancing to the bank because it will always be more sick people using the money.

Now if it gets to a point where everyone is healthy...

You're right no one knows but this is not going to be a total win for everyone involved. We all are going to be hit financially in some sort of way.

Fukk up nikka. You been on that elitist tip a little too much in this thread.

Don't be upset because I'm speaking the truth.

You have people in here cheering for a bill that was essentially originally proposed by the "Republican Revolution" and their ilk in the mid-90s, because they feared the Clintons were going to push for Universal Healthcare.

So this is a Republican, Corporatist bill that benefits private companies who already have too much lobbying power and money.
