It did and it didn't. The graphics were excellent...the story line was cool too, but I thought the missions laacked any real challenge or anything uniquely "New York." Plus the soundtrack was ass....they had so many options to choose from. The music in GTA as part of the sound track really does make or break the mood of the missions and the character.

True Crime NYC....did an amazing job for example with it's sound track...they had Nas "NYS of Mind", Mobb Deep "Shook Ones", Big Pun "Twinz"...110th St etc....now if they can do it...there was no excuse for GTA4 not to come with some serious bangers.

Overall though, the fact that GTA SA was still the GOAT kind of made it a flop.

honestly the ballad of gay tony makes it a success. The problem with the original is they made it way too long and too serious. With the tony expansion, the missions were way better, no man dates on your free time, and better/funnier cut scenes. Plus the city felt more alive compared to san andreas.

yea thats the best thing.

Was how real it was when someone got shot.

I could be on my Wire shyt and just walk up to some biker nikka and put one in his head, the way he fell to the ground after was so damn real :ohlawd:

I used to stalk toursit on time squared at night :shaq:

Man I thought I was the only one who did this. I basically pretended like I was Omar, only using the pistol, and kept starting shyt several gang members.

And when the cops came, it turned into some Juice shyt running through alleys and hiding from the police.

I think a lot of people's expectations were skewed from the beginning. They were expecting something like SA, or Saints Row, but the game is a million times more fun if you were pretending to be a real hitman (like with a target/escape plan/getaway car a block away).

It also took me a while to figure out which dudes were actual gangsters and packing heat. Once I figured out who they were and how to get them to shoot back at me :ohlawd: shyt was on :jawalrus:

Edit: if you want to figure out who the gangsters are, just walk into them and then stand there, they will tell you to GTFOH, or tell you to put your gun away. Once you figure out the kinds of pedestrians that are gangsters, shyt will be so much more fun

lol we gotta be the same person. I would dress the nikka up in the leather vst like omar, then go to alderney right by where u respawn at the hospital there on the corner because it was always full of biker gangs and that black gang.
I'll have on my leather jacket and just walk of of alleys with the shot gun looking for nikkas standin on the corner :krs:

And yea. In most places its easy to find who the hoodlums is except the brooklyn/queeens part. Thats where them russians at and alot of times they look regular.

Plus another thing i liked is that when you get into a shootout sometimes the people still be alive. I be on my doughboy from boyz n the hood n walk up to them who still alive blowin dey head off :birdman:

:krs: that hospital corner is fukking hot. That abandoned house across the street, I always treated that shyt like a stash house, and most of the time they'd have three dudes as muscle across the street in the townhouse lawn with the chainlinks

If you play TLAD or TBOGT you can start more shyt in BK/QNS b/c you can pop off at Little Jacob's gang. They'll either be wearing fancy suits, or be camo'd up. But the PJ's and the Russian area are easy to start shyt in

My favorite area to start shyt is Uptown, in any game. There's always a ton of gang members up there, and even more in TBOGT b/c Dominicans are in Northwood, increasing the gang occupied territory (Dominicans are like the Spanish gangsters essentially, but always with a puffy coat, they ride with each other). And if it gets too hot in East Harlem, you can go west and start shyt with Bikers/Black gang members in those projects.

The Spanish gangsters (Spanish Lords) are the easiest to start shyt with cuz they're in every borough except BK.

This link will have you eating for a while breh :myman:

Edit: there's just so much shyt in your post I can relate to :ohlawd: I wish I could pos rep you right now.

Definitely a letdown.

limited amount of safehouses, you couldn't buy new shyt...no car mods, :gag: clothing

i still play it, but that's cause i'm too lazy to sit closer to the TV so i can play San Andreas on the ps2.
Surprised no one else mentioned this.

The presentation was incredible, I actually really liked Niko and the rest of the characters, but the game itself was missing a lot of qualities from the older games. Basically: less guns, less cars, less clothes, less safehouses, less customization

:childplease: at people saying the soundtrack was weak. Breh, even the hipster station had some decent tracks.

*joyriding through the streets letting shots off at pedestrians and cops with Swizz on blast "Ridin with my top down, and my jewelry on..."* :wow: :lawd:

:skip: every time I start playing as Luis Lopez, I walk out the save house like "who the fukk are all these whiteboys in my hood?" then pop off at em. Then I have to get the fukk out of dodge cuz I made it hot.

Some of the easiest places to get a ton of people shooting back at you:
East Harlem: Northside of the Taino Towers, ther's usually two groups of 3 gangsters standing by the dumpsters. A lot of the time the NE intersection is filled with multiple groups of gangsters
670TainoCorner.jpg

Firefly Projects: the SE most project building, under the train tracks bridge, there's always at least 6 gangsters there. Also, like in the middle of the neighborhood, there's a project building with a long driveway and garages, there's sometimes a group there
Hove Beach: right by Niko's original spot in the alleyways by the hot dog stand, everybody standing in those alleys is a gangster. But those Russians aren't playing, anywhere in their hood
Jamaican area: right in front of Little Jacob's Homebrew Cafe, there's sometimes 6+ Jamaican gangsters
You already know about those WS Harlem projects, try shooting in the middle of that bytch and making it out alive :skip:
Spray up any of these spots with (free aim) SMG fire and you'll have a firefight on your hands.

Of course, there are a lot more corners with just 3 or less gangsters just standing there hustling. There's a lot of money to be made plehboi :birdman: go on and get your Omar on :myman:

As Luis Lopez, I treat any location where Dominicans start popping up as my territory, and any location where a homeless dude asks for money as my drug corner :lolbron:

Playing high and listening to Fusion or the Journey was the best. How the fukk they gon get rid of both of those AND turn Beat 102.7 into some mainstream shyt :stopitslime: The original Beat 102.7 was dope as fukk tho, cuz I was heavy into DatPiff at the time

SOHH ICEY N.O.
what yall knw bout going by the hospital a punching gangsters and then running close to other street dudes and that gangster punches one of them and keep doin it until u bulid like 20 people and it becomes a 20 man brawl and they will forget bout u and just brawl until they kill each other or the police pull and they have a big ass shoot out

or going by the hospital and killing everybody in the hospital and getting your wanted level to 5stars and stay inside of the hospital and just wait to police to pour in, once i put a car infront of the door and killed everybody in the hospital and got 5 stars the police just piles up infront of the door wit they cars and it builds up to over 20-30 cars and throw are grenade or shoot a rocket launcher and that shyt just blows so big

and multiplayer was fun as fukk, racing caused so much fukkery, in times square people would get out they cars at the beginning of the race and grab buses and part they bus infront of the check point on both sides and u would be able to get to the checkpoint unless u out of car and u would get killed and come back on that scooter, one match took over a 1 hour one night, shyt was fun as fukk, driving was gon so great

In terms of being a technical masterpiece, GTA 4 aced that, the graphics and how real LC is as opposed to NY is :wow:
As far as fun, it was ok, there was a lot of little things that were cool(calling the cops, punching someone, then letting that dude hit me in front of the cops to get arrested :russ:), but the rail shooting missions were not there and there wasn't too much variety in the area(no desert; forests, mountains like in SA or V).
