Interesting article on the lack of atheist amongst the black culture. Thoughts?

Our Father's Not in Heaven: The New Black Atheism
Good read. Once i "jacked out the matrix" my life became so much better. Best thing dat ever happened to me.
I grew up in da church like most brothas. Sunday school, Christian private school from 1-6th grade. I was never fully sold on what da preacher was sayin, what ma duke, grandma duke, etc. was sayin bout god, da bible, jesus, etc. I believed but i was never satisfied by da ol "God has a plan" "Just pray" "Everything happens for a reason" shyt. Just too much fukked up shyt in da world for me to really believe dat.
My mom was a college professor so we always had national geographic, encyclopedias n shyt all around da crib. So we were definitely "cultured" about da world. But It wasn't till bout my junior year of high school dat i actually started doin some real research bout da different religions/cultures of da world. Saw just how many there were. Then dat lead to lookin deeper into ancient civilizations i.e. Greeks, Egyptian, etc. Lookin at their belief systems, there rituals, their dieties, etc. Then i started to focus in on just Christianity. Started discovering about the lost books that were taken out. Readin bout The Council of Nicaea, THe crusades, Protestant Reformation n shyt. I just sat there reading about all dis shyt like
Then it became so much clearer. Using just logic and basic common sense. Dat's what it really came down to personally for me. Thinking about how empires take over lands and force their belief systems and way of life on da conquered foe and after a couple generations dat shyt becomes gospel set in stone and all those people know. They are told to never question da shyt...no matter what. Some ways thru fear tactics, guilt, and/or physical violence. Dat's how it's always been thruought history. And dat's exactly what happen to black folk in dis country. Our ancestors were brought ova here...forced into slavery... and forced into adopting their master's belief system. And those born into dat shyt, over generations dat inherited belief system becomes THEIRS.
I can write pages on how i came to where i'm at right now but i'm def never goin back to dat bs. And what's made me realize just how deeply ingrained dat shyt is in people's minds is my moms. She knows all da shyt i know, hell even MORE about all da bullshyt about man's fingerprints all over da world's religions, etc....but she STILL is one of dem devout worshippin christian "black church folk". Even tho she KNOWS alot of da shyt makes absolutely no sense and the origins of it. It's just somethin i guess people...humans WANT/NEED to have. Dat sense of "protection" or somethin.
I guess it's a lot more comforting thinkin dat if you're walkin a tight rope over a dark hole dat there's somethin there to keep you safe, something there to catch you if/when you fall. Da thought of there being nothing after dis life is an extremely frightening aspect to a majority of people.
Always questioned religion and fancied myself a buddist at one point. But now I wonder how can black people be religious at all when God was used to justify slavery. Why would you pick to worship that god who is obliviously corrupt.
Same reason how blacks can become atheists despite atheists such as Margaret Sanger utilizing her eugenics based philosophies to create the "Negro Project," in which Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics were to be used to cut down on the black population.
