Orange Is the New Black Casting Scoop: Mary Steenburgen Booked for Season 3

Mary Steenburgen is headed directly to jail.

The actress — most recently spotted on FX’s Justified — is joining Orange Is the New Black‘s third season in a recurring role, TVLine has confirmed.

Steenburgen broke the news herself Thursday on Twitter, but stopped short of revealing any details about her character

i thought it was weird that she went to war with Piper at the end of the first season and the 2nd season they dont even have one stare down...shyt isnt even mentioned really....not even the slightest amount of awkwardness between the two.

Good season overall, but I think I like season 1 more. It was funnier. This was kinda light on that. And vee pissed me off, although I guess she was supposed to. Just that Penndatucky was a better villain to me. She was entertaining as hell with her god shyt.

meh, the only situation they could've really clashed was Piper getting furlough. There weren't situations were both could meet up, with Alex gone Piper didn't need to go to the laundry and see Pennsatucky. Season 1 Doggett would've made a mess out of Piper's newsletter but in this season she was alone and had no real motive to do anything, religion was sent to the bushes after what happened in S1.

I was fine with the way they changed her character. It's been established that the SHU fukks people up and both Chapman and Pennsatucky spent a fair amount of time there, specially Doggett. Add that to the fact she had no back up anymore, most people think she got her ass beat and find her annoying as fukk, she was completely alone to the point she just joined the lesbian brigade to meet new people she had no influence on anybody and couldn't plot anything. There's no reason for her to antagonize Piper.

The only ally she had was Healy, she didn't want to fukk her only friendship up and tried to stay away from trouble as much as possible, it made sense imo.

She couldn't be the same villain as season 1, they needed at least a transition after all the fukkery she went through
