She helped 300 morehouse men from what im reading since late 2000s

Doesnt morehouse school already have alot of money? :patrice:

Actually more than 500 all the way through college. Also Morehouse isn't giving out free rides...neither is Spelman. Most of the men I know who graduated from there are bogged down in debt or their family's bogged down. 76% of Morehouse graduates and non graduates leave the college with loan debt averaging over $40,000 (http://prince.org/msg/105/394313?pr). My friend's boyfriend has over $100,000 in debt from there. The cost of attendance at Morehouse is between 24,744 and 37,416 per year. Therefore, she has spent between $49,488,000 and $74,832,000 on those 500 black men. She may have spent more considering that Morehouse lists the full direct and indirect cost at $45,000 per year (https://www.morehouse.edu/administration/finance/financialaid/pdf/2012/Budget-2012-2013.pdf).

What have you done to improve the lives of hundreds of black men, thier current families who may not have been able to afford college without loans, and their future families?

im not really deep into the subject myself, interesting read though and very unfortunate that according to this they end up owing 10k more average than other regular college students. maybe some of the other folks who make a big come up from those colleges should give back more since they are non-profit. alot of this has to really be put into perspective through how a person is actually living though currently which would take some time, im trying to find out more about this though now. the rich and the poor both can be in debt their whole lives but we know who lives in material luxury and who doesnt

i guess that is what it comes down to when somebody points out a possible flaw in somebodies reasoning with constructive critisizm..she has more money and i have less so i should be silent. well i havent made sexually segregated schools in a place where all the kids are suffereing equally i can assure you that

That not what I said. I simply asked what have you done besides talk shyt about people who are doing things in the US and abroad. Of course you don't have millions to spend but I would expect that you are doing something besides complaining.

Also, to that last line, she opened an all girls school in Africa and is the largest benefactor for an all male HBCU in the US. Wtf are you really complaining about? She clearly supports both genders.

No, it's NOT obvious that she should support both in both places. These are her causes, her convictions, and her money. She isn't obligated to do anything, but she still does. There are plenty of causes that only support one gender to the other. That doesn't make them wrong.

Also, her actions say otherwise because she has supported all male and all girl schools. She also cited research as to why he did the all girls school in Africa.. It was quoted in this thread.

Again, what have YOU done to support boys AND girls in your home town even?

so basically she should have an immunity against very reasonable suggestions because "SHE DONT GOT TO" when do you apply this logic to anyone else who has a seated position of power? please let me know

she definantly should be supporting the black people who for countless hours watched her tv programming and buys her books, she owes it to them man woman boy girl, otherwise she wouldnt have nothing close to what she does in the bank now

her actions are so far supporting females more than men if you count up the dollars and cents spent, thats not to meaningful though because she admitted its better to support girls "particularly" in "3rd world" places but not limited there as if she said specifically

i educate my people..isnt that what oprah does? i guess mine means nothing compared to hers once again, same old story

:childplease: She does not owe anyone a damn thing. Nobody was forced to watch her shows. You are not entitled to anything just because someone made money from entertaining you.

Also, can you give me the figures on what she has spent on men vs women (with a source)? Even if they are different, oh well. Do you complain when male athletes hold camps that benefit males only? Should they be obligated to hold something or spend the same amount on girls?

Finally, you are the one assuming that your actions it mean nothing. Again...I simply asked you what you were doing specifically to help both genders. Idk what you mean by "educating" though.

The only figure I could find for the all girls school is $40 million (http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/and.../2007/01/oprah-leads-celebs-media-follow.html). She is spending between $49 and $90 million on those 500 African American men (based on Morehouse's cost of attendance that I also cited from their website).

I'll wait for you to find other figures.

if thats how you feel i guess we just agree to disagree, as far as owing your own people for supporting you for many years, according to oprahs research women are quicker to give back to family than men and you are going against the grain right now :mjpls:

what male athletes hold camps that benefit males only? since when is sports programs for kids for fun the same thing as helping kids in africa get education so they can support their family? even if you do name some they are probably gender specific sports which is a whole different topic within itself

what does educate mean -
  • Give intellectual, moral, and social instruction to (someone, esp. a child), typically at a school or university

@Dirty_Jerz You wasting your time with her breh :snoop: She's not gonna listen to your point of views. She's always gonna be right and it's always gonna be her opinions over yours. Trust me. Just end it now. She's a strong black woman with strong beliefs.
