I think that would be the wrong move, do people ignore the conditions of these states
Yea it sounds cool to take over Mississippi or Alabama but crackers can barley leave there so what do people expect black folks to do in them states
And if you not educated what jobs u going to get living in the south
Not just that, bit some of these southerners and non-southerners who advocate for this shyt act as if this shyt is sunshine and rainbows in the South. I'm bout to go on a rant here
...
There are numerous places across the South with plurality to majority black populations, where we are lacking political power all the same, where we still live under the same disenfranchisement that we have in areas we are smaller proportions of the population. nikkas think repopulating the South is the move and yet the South is where the largest black crime rates are, where some of the highest black poverty rates are, where some of the strongest barriers to equal education opportunities are. Cities like Memphis and New Orleans and Baltimore exist, 55%+ black, with a shyt ton of corruption and social issues that effect black people...
But let's self-segregate where we already have high numbers, let's get those numbers higher!
Mississippi is the Blackest state in the Union and yet we are doing the worst in the state we have the largest share of the population...
Not to mention, do nikkas really think this shyt thru, what do they think the ramifications of self-segregating to 8-12 states will be on future generations of black people? Do you know how many non-blacks, not just whites, would absolutely LOVE for "coloreds only" areas again? The advocates for this shyt are advocating for turning the rest of the US into sundown towns for us, and don't even know it---->and also aren't realizing that any city or state we have numbers in is going to be controlled by white interests regardless...
Atlanta is tge popular beacon of Black America and yet anyone who has actually spent time in Atlanta know most of us there are impoverished or barely making it, living amongst violence, with virtual Klan members controlling the zoning and real estate and money and jurisdictions of tge region anyway...
But fukk it, let's all leave the rest of the US and go South...
What I will say is that in the present and recent past, the South has cheaper land, cheaper cost of living, more job access and job diversity, and more attractive weather, than most of the rest of the country, and all of these things matter to black people---->and they should. When you add the fact that, the South is our ancestral home of most of us, there is a different community feel in many southern areas than you get in New York and Los Angeles and Chicago and the like, those cities obviously have community too.....but there's a different emotional pull in much of the South if you're black...
So I'm not saying black people shouldn't move to the South if it's the best move for them. But what I've actually found is while just as many transplants enjoy the South, just as many of them, would trade their new home for their old one, if the cost of living at minimum was feasible. For others, if crime wasn't outta control. And so on. Lotta transplants love the South. Others just tolerate it...
I love Virginia and North Carolina. Not a fan of pretty much anywhere else in the South, but because I love those two, I get why someone would love another southern state...
But what I am saying is
this colonized country wasn't made for us or with us in mind. Racism isnt absent in the South. Life is hard. But we did help make all of these non-southern places what they are today, and I'm a huge supporter of standing our ground and tooling up to maintain our presence in these places...
Keep these homes and neighborhoods in black hands. Invest into our black communities on a civic level. Re/educate our youth on standing up for Black rights in these large cities that are pushing us away...
Running away and self-segregating is tge worst option on the board, literally. That grass for sure ain't always greener. If it's the right move, make it happen, but not just because "immigrants and illegals taking over; high cost of living; anti-black policies and gentrification"...
Mf's be surprised when they hit the South and see the exact same shyt happening from wherever they left, it's just your dollar stretches further. And for some, that's all that matters. For me, the entirety of my comfortability goes beyond cost of living...
