So to wrap this up. Was it easier or harder? To go to the travel agent, if your town had one vs logging on from your phone on the toilet…

I was in London in the 80s. I stated enough times that people travel. But MORE people travel now cause it’s easier and more accessible

How is this even an argument
It's not. nikkas just love to argue for the sake of arguing

Of course more people travel now, but even in 2021 majority of Americans don't have passports

If you live in Jamaica, you have to leave Jamaica to have a change of scenery. You pretty much need to leave Jamaica to experience anything remotely different climate, scenery, culturally.. People dont want to spend their entire life on an island seeing the same shyt every day.

An American can get in their car and go to snowy mountains for skiing, they can go to sub-tropical environments for beaches, they can go to frozen lakes to fish, they can go to the desert, they can go to giant woodland forests, they can go to open plains. Damn near anything you want to experience scenery wise you can experience in America using a car. The American southwest is completely different from the Northeast, midwest, northwest, south, etc...

Also remember an American DID NOT NEED A PASSPORT to visit Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc...until 2009!

I went to the Bahamas when i was 16 and we didnt need a passport. So not having a passport is not evidence that Americans didnt travel.
The average European leaves Europe. So this voids everything you said

The majority of Chinese people in 2021 dont own a passport. Yall gotta stop thinking that the world is Europe. Some people travel and thats cool, others don’t (for whatever reason) and thats cool too. I’ve been to other countries and met locals that have never left their city. Just the coli tries to turn this into an elitist thing.
At what point did I even insinuate the world is Europe? Especially when the majority of Europeans leave Europe .

Ya'll claim to be super blackity-black, but, you don't know this already?

My family, after I moved, only came to visit us and we were just 4 states over.

Yes, most black people don't even leave their home state unless it's for college.
I am Black. From an upper middle-class Nigerian family matter of fact :mjpls:

How is traveling even elitist?
It was until about 10-15 years ago according to this thread. From what I got, the Internet made travel accessible to the common man and 9/11 made passports an requirement just to go to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Not to mention, the rise of Instagram making traveling a status symbol for everyone.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Of course more people travel now, but even in 2021 majority of Americans don't have passports
The avg american doesn't have $1000 in savings so there's also that. but 4 to 40 percent in 20 years is damn good.

Again. I'm a traveler and been doing so since 84. Foreigners NEED passports to move around. Imagine being in Europe or Asia or Africa and you can't move around to the next country. Hell nah. Then having them early and it being a NEED, people naturally used it more.

In America, as people were saying. I can travel from NYC and vacation in Cali with no passport. Do you know how many countries I would be flying over on any other continent? Combined with everything else I said is the reasoning behind the thread. Nobody is arguing that non-Americans weren't doing that more and aren't still doing it.

So the question remains... How is it elitist?
Because at the end of the day, it still costs a lot of money. If you can barely take your kids to the beach 6 hours away, you're going to have a real tough time booking 4 tickets to Jamaica, even if they were $150 each. People don't got it. They got it to get to Miami, then all the people post memes talking about "fukk your bytch ass if you only go to Miami and Vegas."

I travel for a living. I take people on group trips internationally. Every single trip, people are AMAZED how cheap it is to travel. Because they are lead to believe it's expensive. We can do a 9 day to greece for 2k, no flight.. But do you think most Americans have $2500 laying around? Even more so to just blow on a vacation? And if they aren't traveling alone, that cost just doubles for a couple.... and with kids.... Oh boy....

I see the reasons and talk to people daily about this stuff. People are broke and been broke. They gonna go for what they know. And if you don't explain to them like they are 5, they'll never even see the beauty in leaving the country, to have the interest in the first place

As much as I say I wish I around for the 70s to 90s, I'm so grateful to be in this generation where it's easier to not only travel but to discover the places you want to go and plan it out before I even leave my doorstep.
Breh I was still in middle and high school, when you had to watch E! Network to find the top 10 travel destinations.. The top 10 party destinations. Top 10.........................

Watching that shyt is the only reason I wanted to go to Cancun.. Went there and had the time of my life. That was my first trip as an adult with a few of my boys. We've been taking multiple trips every year since. I've literally watched how easy this shyt has become.. I book flights now the week of, find a dope spot quick and already have broads lined up.. What a time to be alive :wow:
