Football is a game of many facets and the NFL simply keeps devaluing it into passing spree with one facet being favored by all rules. And you're ok with it because it takes skill to pass the ball? Lol ok. So does staying with a receiver who knows the play and you don't. So does shedding a block from a beefy olineman and getting to the ballcarrier before he's able to burst through the hole. Many things in football take skill, but you want to focus on only one aspect to please all the casual fans

QB's have always been the stars of the league and in general, the most important position in the NFL, but even back when Baltimore won the Superbowl with that D everyone said QB's were overrated and you could win with a journeyman. I don't prefer running to passing. All I want is running and passing given equal opportunity, same for defense and offense. I do prefer defense to offense but that should be clear from my posting-and I don't want for defense to dominate, only being put in fair position.

Nah this is different than just regular ebbs and flows. The rule changes and enforcement emphasis was clearly intended to steer the game in this direction. If it were cyclical, we could expect a renaissance of the running game in the coming years, but that's just not how the game is called anymore so, unless there are more changes in the rules and enforcement of those rules, we can expect this to continue.

My beef is that the game has been sanitized/standardized. Everyone runs similar playbooks, showing a personality is frowned upon, etc. It feels like Goodell wants his NFL to be like a fast food restaurant where the menu is the same and the ingredients are the same, and the product tastes the same no matter which location you go to in the country. The NFL product was at its best when individual teams and players had individual identities, but now in order to succeed, you have to all pretty much be good at the same things. Lame

The game needs a resurgence of the running game and great RBs so badly. It needs for DBs to play more physical without getting flagged every 3 plays. It needs for personal fouls to only be called when there are legit blows to the head or late hits or whatever, not just every time a hit "looks" violent (even if it's clean). It will alter everything from offensive strategy, defensive strategy, draft strategy, etc. It will allow teams known for running the ball and/or hard-hitting defense to actually succeed right along with high-flying passing offenses. And don't bring up Seattle - they never did shyt until they got a real QB.
