Justifying the Hamas attack isn't dumb; however, it's dumb to say in this political environment. Personally, I don't see any good guys in this situation and it's not like Israel where innocent bystanders who did no wrongs against the Palestinian people. This is two wrongs not making a right. As for college campuses, I find it interesting all it looks were accusations of death to Israelis moving all the way to a hearing in Congress. Yet, for any other group they'll need proof.

It is dumb, politics or not. Attacking innocents is never justified. If someone kills your child, do you think its 100% ok to kill their child? Did that child deserve to die because your child died? Do you think there is situations in which forcible rape is ok? Is pedophilia ever justified? Some believe that 9/11 was justified because of the American military occupation of the region. Let me guess, you support that too. Some of these subjects yall need to cut out the contrarian act.

You can condemn Israel, but don't just ignore, gloss over, justify, or outright support terrorists kill, raping, and torturing people who never personally picked up a weapon against them.

That's why people gotta think and answer the question that is asked. Free Palestine is not antisemitic. But calling for the genocide of Jews is. The Harvard President for example was asked explicitly in the hearing is calling for the genocide or Jews against student conduct (not free Palestine). She gave a nuisanced response about free speech. That would have been a good answer in a court of law, but terrible as a representative of a college and its student body.

Elon is a an antisemitic himself but got spanked for it, so he is over correcting to try to get back on the good side of public opinion.

Part of why it frustrates me that they keep lawyering/academiaing themselves into obvious clear . And to be clear, Rep Stafinek, racist, problematic, pro-Trump, conservative, switched from moderate to far-right etc following her election; is herself Harvard educated (undergrad). The very very false notion that people born and bred like her aren’t at Ivies and in large numbers persists still.

Dec 10 (Reuters) - Several hundred faculty members at Harvard University on Sunday signed a petition asking school administrators to not bend to political pressure to fire the school's president over her Congressional testimony about antisemitism on campus.

A concisely worded petition was signed by at least 570 professors and was delivered Sunday evening to the 13-member Harvard Corporation, which has the power to fire university president Claudine Gay. More professors indicated they also wanted to sign, according to a co-author of the petition.

More than 70 U.S. lawmakers signed onto a letter demanding that the governing boards of the three universities remove the presidents, citing dissatisfaction with their testimony.

But Alison Frank Johnson, a Harvard professor of history and a co-author of the petition delivered to the school's corporation, rejected the politicized calls for Gay's removal.

"I get the impression that many people don't know how much support she has, as a scholar, colleague, and administrator, within the university - including from people who sometimes disagree with her," Frank Johnson wrote in an email. "We don't want to lose her because of a political stunt."

Frank Johnson would not provide the language of the petition, but confirmed that it asks the Harvard Corporation "not to bend to political pressure, including pressure to remove the president."

Jewish students, families and alumni have accused the schools of tolerating antisemitism, especially in statements by pro-Palestinian demonstrators since the Islamist group Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7 and killed around 1,200. That attack prompted a massive counterattack by Israel that has left over 17,700 Palestinians dead, according to the Gaza health ministry.
