EA and Take Two have a monopoly on the biggest sports licences with pretty much zero alternatives. We can't even get another fukkin NBA Street game

On top of that sports games like skate boarding, tennis, boxing and snowboarding have all but disappeared too and the few titles that have came out have mostly been weak or low key indie titles.

Even Nintendo's recent Mario sports games have been below bar

Take 2 doesn't have a monopoly by force like EA does with Madden.


EA CHOOSES not to make another NBA game. The license isn't exclusive like the NFL one is.

Man the PS2 & XBOX OG gen was the best. Madden fell off at the start of the PS3 & 360 gen. 2k fell off right before the PS4 gen.

At least the SHOW has been good from what I heard.

Blame the gamers, they won't buy an unlicensed sports game just because the models (all with the same animations and shared assets) don't look like real players.

Even MLB the show, while it's probably the best sports franchise out today and still a very good game the updates yearly are incremental at best. It would be nice to have other options
