Safeties

Antoine Bethea - A saavy 10 year veteran. I was nervous when he replace Donte 'Hitner' back in 2014, but he had a pro-bowl season and ended up being an upgrade from Whitner because he turned out to be better in coverage. That being said, at 32 years old, he's at the back 9 of his career and could decline physically this year. He also had a torn pectoral muscle and didn't play for most of last year. I expect that he will play out his contract as he grooms some of the younger guys to eventually replace him particularly Jaquiski Tartt who is a freakish athlete but needs some fine tuning.

Grade: B

Jaquiski Tartt - Being thrust into the season as a rookie, Jaquiski showed why he was drafted so high. He is like a scud missle, going after wide receivers, I wondered if he'd be able to be good in coverage, he wasn't good but he wasn't bad either. His eye for the ball improved as the season progressed and he had a few deflections as well. I think with some coaching and some guidance from veterans, he could easily be one of the leagues better safeties.

Grade: B-

Eric Reid - Last season was a bounce back season for him. He started of bad but improved to his old self by the end of the season. A well balanced safety he has the speed in coverage to keep the top from blowing off and he is a very good tackler. Concussions are still a worry for me, as he's had a few, but if he can keep the water in his melon, he's a very good player, and could see some more pro-bowls.

Grade: B

L.J McCray - In his third year, LJ has shown that his is going to be a career back up, but he has blazing speed which makes him valuable on special teams and if the other guys get hurt, he's competent enough to play defensive snaps in short bursts.

Grade: C-

Jared Bell - A good safety from Colorado, but I expect him to be on the practice squad.

Grade: F

Unit Analysis: We spent a couple of high draft picks to improve at safety over the years, and it seems to have paid off, we have a really young talented corps that is not even in it's prime yet, and a great but aging vet in Bethea. Health permitting we are set for the nest 5-10 years at this position, with very solid if not elite players

Unit Grade: B

I'll b surprised if either Brock or Acker make the team
Brock is :trash:. I wouldn't consider him so :trash: if he wasn't thought of or referred to or paid as the best CB on the team, not his fault but still.
He not impressive at all to me and I been sayin it for a few seasons now since he emerged as the #1 cb for some reason.

I can't stand having trash players. It's one thing to have players that are below good, but you can't have trash players getting significant playing time.

Bruce Ellington is COMPLETE TRASH. He has NEVER done anything good outside of some garbage time TD . He's quite possibly the worst kick returner as well.

Good teams can't have trash ass players getting playing time. Ugggggggh

EVERY corner on the roster is :trash:. There is potential with the safety position, tho.

The Yay
Bruce Ellington isnt trash. Patton is much worse. Ellington looks pretty good when he's given the ball. Yeah he does suck as a returner.
