finally say this. Tarantino is :flabbynsick:

I cant even call this a movie. paper thin plot which would have been ok but his dialogue has fell off tremendously and this movie is comolelty dialogue driven.

Some of y’all are really, really slow. Like all context of nuanced thought completely eludes you. Your mind basically idles between basic ass extremes. No one’s issue is the movie isn’t based on history. The use of “history” in this film is entirely superfluous. It’s a tie-in that a director that is clearly out of ideas and battling dwindling inspiration threw in on some just because, shyt. The movie shouldn’t be based on ANY history. That’s the problem. It worked better in I.B. because the story was more compelling and it was the first time he went to the alternative history well. This shyt right here? Was extra, extra light.
This movie isn’t good

I am a big fan of some of Tarantino's movies.

Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds are tremendous.

Generally, the dialogue in his movies is always superb.

But Tarantino has reached the point (perhaps years ago) where he could be described as predictable.

Interesting dialogue with a handful of great cinematic shots, but ruined with his injection of racist comments/themes and unnecessary violence.

Over the last week I saw this movie and Joker to compare them now that the Oscars are coming up.

Joker is way, way, way better. Better acted and with a far more interesting story arc.

I'm basically done with Tarantino unless he decides to make a more serious movie...one that doesnt hinge on killings.

No Whammies!!
Glad I just got caught on "Mindhunter" season 2 last week, then just watched this. Having the "real" story fresh in my mind definitely made this movie much more enjoyable. It's pretty interesting comparing the "crazed hippie" version of the "Tex" from this movie with the "Born Again Christian college football"-type version of Tex we see in prison in Mindhunter.

For a minute, I thought they might be going for a "Spartacus"-finale type ending, where they give you the false hope that they might alter history, then crush you by giving you a version of the historical ending :damn:.

I just saw this, I liked it, would give it a 7/10.

Leo and Brad killed it.

Reading through this thread, I agree with the overall points, that the film was very long and could've been edited down. I get what QT was trying to do: basically make a western film in the golden age of Hollywood with the slow-burn and building up to the third act. This movie does seem it could be better on a second viewing, if I ever get the urge to watch it again.

Damn Good Movie

Took too long. Leo, Brad & Margot were great. Love the change of direction compared to the real events. It really did a good job of separating Sharon’s life from Charles Manson as much as possible. She deserved to be remembered for her life alone rather than what happened to her. When the action happened there were elements of it I should have seen coming
