The Callisto Protocol developer, Striking Distance Studios, considered adding its upcoming horror game to Xbox Game Pass, but "as a single-player linear game, it's really hard to be successful in those types of services."

"As an independent, third-party, it's really hard to make a linear third-person game work within those services. I'm not saying never; it's hard financially to make that work," James concludes.

Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also claims that the gamepass model doesn’t make sense for the type of games they make. Things that make you go hmmm :patrice:

Alot of people think these subscription services are the future of the gaming industry and that its a good thing. The truth is that these services mean most games have to be loaded with micro transactions to be profitable.

Basically people are celebrating a future where the mobile game business model becomes the norm.

Yep, I’ve been saying this forever. Subscription gaming whether its through sony, apple, amazon, microsoft, tencent, etc will be the death of big single player games.

Yep. Expect more "early access", more MTX, more season passes / live service, and smaller and smaller games at launch.

I think there can be a happy balance. Blockbuster singleplayer games paid for, multiplayer GaaS style games and exclusives for gamepass

Say its optional in one breath but swear the subscription model is the "future" in another. So in other words, it's optional until it ain't.

Have it both ways brehs.

That's exactly what it is. Y'all want to stan so much that you creating a false narrative.

When really it might not make sense for them to take the bag that was offered now. But in 4-8 months gamepass and ps plus might be just what they need.
