lets remember the two years Marino had top 5 scoring defense

1990-2 picks on offense in a shootout with the bills, losing by 10

1998-2 picks against broncos
:ld:

what about top 10 scoring defense ?

2 picks against the seahags in 83 :manny:

dude had 10 games in offs with 2+ picks

montana had 5...while playing like 1.5 times as many playoff games

Did Marino ever fukk up at the end of games? He managed games as good as Montana

All I remember is dude losing games while his D is on the field, he always did his job.

Edit:

Super Bowl XIX was his second year in the league u retards. First full season.
Marino lost to a 15-1 team In The Super Bowl. That wasn't a crime.

Nothing about Marinos play demonstrates that he'd fail if put in the same situations as Joe Montana.

Nothing....

Where'd I say "what if" anywhere?

Nothing about Marinos make up as a qb leads me to believe that he'd fail being in Joes position on San Fran.

so ? you are acting like 4000 yards are anything important.

bum ass stafford passed for 5000 yards. so what ? mike martz was popping them 4000 yard qbs out before the passing craze

once you realize that the QBs job is NOT TO THROW FOR 41948129128 yards or making gorgeous thread the needle throws but rather to actually manage the game and make right decisions you wouldnt be writing stupid shyt like this.

it's not the end all, be all, but it's a pretty safe barometer considering every other QB that is considered top 5 to ever do it has accomplished this...

you're looking at it the wrong way. not every QB that throws for 30+ TD's multiple times and 4,000 yards is elite. BUT EVERY OTHER DUDE WHO CAN BE CONSIDERED A TOP 5 QUARTERBACK HAS DONE SO. So I'd say it's a fair measuring stick, with Montana being the outlier:

Marino
Young
Favre
Brady
Manning
Rodgers will end up in that discussion and has already accomplished such, also.

Montana was a great big-game QB. But guess what, so is Eli Manning, and he's not even considered elite. But it's a lot easier when you have a dynamic running back, the best WR ever, and a top 5 defense.

would've=what if in this instance.

you are using a hypothetical statement to put player x in player y shoes

no, youre looking at it wrong.

instead of looking at STUPID TOTALS, look at yards per attempt. all those qbs threw the ball much more than Montana did.

Montana career y/a is 7.5
Favre's career y/a is 7.1
Marino's career y/a is 7.3
Brady career y/a is 7.5
Peyton career y/a is 7.6

where is that outlier you were talking about ? WHERE ?

you think that for a qb to be good he needs to be asked to throw a ton. which is pure bullshyt if you ask me.

You've yet to state what qualities you've seen in Marino that tells you he wouldn't have succeeded being the 49ers qb during that time.

Something about Marinos play should allow you to think he'd perform less if he was under Bill Walsh.

Manufacture something for me bruh....because you and I both know whatever lesser than critique you will say about Marino will be forced at best.

Where'd did Marino showcase a lesser than quality than Joe other than being around a lesser than organization.
