my problem with picking marino over montana is...

if you want to be called the greatest...you gotta be the greatest when you have opportunities

marino in super bowl...was shook by the Niners defense. they put some quick blitzes on him and he fizzled.

Im not taking anything away, he was a great QB, top 5 for sure and football is a team game most and foremost, and playoff games are usually won by defenses. he had weak supporting cast around him as well...

BUT. if you want to be called the greatest you gotta prove shyt. like with barry sanders, his stats and regular season accomplishments are overwhelming against other RBs
marinos arent really.

Montana is the greatest. Marino is the only QB IMO that can be mentioned in the same breath as him.

*waits for Montana stans to come in here and talk about team accomplishments or Montana's stats in Super Bowls*

Montana only had ONE season of 30+ touchdowns and never threw for 4,000 yards in a season, despite having who many consider to be the best football player of all time at his disposal. How is that even possible? And this dude is the GOAT?!

Can you imagine the kind of numbers Marino would put up throwing to Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Dwight Clark, having a solid run game, and a top 5 defense?! It wouldn't even be fair.

Marino turned two midgets in Duper and Clayton into very respectable receivers. I can't imagine what he would do with Jerry Rice.

The 49ers defense was consistently ranked in the top 5 in the 80's, and they were the #1 scoring defense in the NFL in '84 when they beat the Fins. Plus Montana had Roger Craig at his disposal, Miami's offense was pathetically one dimensional and they were STILL able to throw all over teams.

so ? you are acting like 4000 yards are anything important.

bum ass stafford passed for 5000 yards. so what ? mike martz was popping them 4000 yard qbs out before the passing craze

once you realize that the QBs job is NOT TO THROW FOR 41948129128 yards or making gorgeous thread the needle throws but rather to actually manage the game and make right decisions you wouldnt be writing stupid shyt like this.

yea I can imagine. marino would throw the ball far less because him, receivers, run game and defense would blow teams out... and hed end up with similar numbers to montana's :pachaha:

Lol, your delusional kid!

If you really think about it and put your feelings away, Brady, Manning have passed Marino. He's not in my top 3 anymore.

Marino had his shot to win a ring and Montana crushed him. Marino threw 2 picks in that game, you guys can't blame Ray Finkle for that.

Did Marino ever fukk up at the end of games? He managed games as good as Montana

All I remember is dude losing games while his D is on the field, he always did his job.

Edit:

Super Bowl XIX was his second year in the league u retards. First full season.
