Someone's gotta step up when Caris hits the bench.

TLC showed out :ehh: Harris too.

I was impressed how Caris handled Toronto's double teams. Great passing.

Great game by the Nets.

Down but never out, a consistent theme with the way they've played for years.

Their truest weakness is screens. Not getting over, backing down from the ball handler on the screen and because of size issues, a lot of switching.

I want to see Musa play next game because he can get over the screen without fouling and can keep the offense at bay by guarding the ball handler.

We're really hurting not having any rotational bigs
:sadcam:

To win the series LeVert has to dissect the box defense he's seeing and play all game. He and Harris need to play all 48 minutes to win. That shouldn't be a priority this season but that's what it will take.

Allen also needs to dive off of these pnr that are being initiated. If not for the basket, to box out and battle for the board. So timid.

LeVert, Harris, TLC

Watched next to no bubble ball but I had to tonight since I knew this was probably it.

I'm proud of Caris' consistent effort tonight and really the series I guess, coulda easily packed it in but still went out there and fought even though he was outgunned.

No idea what's going to happen though. I get the keeping everyone arguments as well as trading for stars, still not sure who/what fits best with KD/Kyrie. Vaughn technically didn't get a fair shake if he's gone, didn't even have the team from last year with Joe/Spence out. No idea what happens there.

Super confident Marks has answers though. This should be our last time getting fed to Mil and Toronto for a bit.

starting deandre jordan over jarrett allen would be a big mistake. at least trade allen for something instead of letting him waste away.

Anyone have the athletic subscription and can post the full pop story?

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Brooklyn Nets, who were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday, are interested in San Antonio Spurs icon Gregg Popovich as their next head coach and will explore that possibility, The Athletic has learned.

With NBA postseason eliminations beginning to occur, several additional organizations are being thrown into offseason mode, joining the eight teams that were not invited to the bubble and the six teams that were eliminated in the seeding games. The Nets and 76ers joined those teams on Sunday.

The Nets made the playoffs and, for all intents and purposes, had a successful run during the NBA’s restart: a 5-3 seeding games record and clinching the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference postseason, despite the absences of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler.

Now, the Nets are not your typical first-round, lower-seed elimination. They have a cast of superstars and/or high-level starters returning to the lineup for 2020-21, which has solidified them as title contenders. The Nets will start their head coaching search immediately, and as The Athletic detailed on Aug. 11, Brooklyn owner Joe Tsai wants a full-scale process to identify the proper coach for the franchise.

The Nets have a list of coaching candidates, including the incumbent Jacque Vaughn, Jason Kidd, Ty Lue, Ime Udoka and Jeff Van Gundy. Vaughn did a tremendous job coaching the Nets given the circumstances inside the NBA bubble, and will remain a significant candidate to retain the job.

However, there is another dream candidate, a coaching icon whose stature speaks for itself.

The first priority of the Nets’ coaching search has become clear: They plan to seriously explore the possibilities with Popovich, sources tell The Athletic.

Popovich expressed after the Spurs’ season ended in Orlando that he intends to continue coaching, and there is no indication right now that it would be anywhere but San Antonio. Still, sources said, the Nets will pursue the viability of Popovich.

He is a favorite of Nets star Kevin Durant, league sources say, even dating as far back as the Oklahoma City Thunder’s coaching search process in 2015 (which ultimately concluded with the hire of Billy Donovan). There is known to be tremendous mutual respect between Popovich and KD. Durant’s presence and voice is powerful within the Nets’ franchise, and Popovich represents a bonding candidate between the two-time Finals MVP and Brooklyn’s front office. ESPN reported on Sunday evening that Durant and Irving have shown an interest in Popovich.

In addition, Popovich has several connections to the Nets, including general manager Sean Marks, assistant GM Andy Birdsong, Vaughn, and assistant coaches Bret Brielmaier and Tiago Splitter. Marks, Vaughn and Splitter all played for Popovich in San Antonio too, with Marks and Vaughn serving as assistants under him at different points.

Across the NBA, Popovich, 71, leaving the franchise he has stewarded for 26 years and taking a new opportunity is deemed a pipe dream for now. The Nets would need permission to speak to Popovich, and compensation could become necessary if talks advance.

The Spurs went 5-3 in the Orlando resumption and were in the hunt for the eighth seed in the Western Conference on the final day. During the restart, San Antonio saw growth from several players — including Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, their last two first-round picks in Lonnie Walker and Keldon Johnson, and Jakob Poeltl — and veterans DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay performing well in lineups with the franchise’s younger talent.

But as the Nets begin their coaching search process — a significant decision for a franchise entering championship contention — this is a scenario the ownership and front office will have to analyze.

Reading this makes me more interested in pop as a fan. The whole front office and coaching staff is an extension of him anyway lol. Either Pop gives the keys to Becky or let us talk to Ime. That brother is ready to go. Anyone but Kidd.

He'll most likely start anyways unless the matchup requires a change.

During the off-season he needs to work on a few things:

Catching the ball and not dropping it.
Three dribbles without a turnover in traffic.
15 foot jumpshot
Post hook shot
Defending with his feet and not hands. This will be the hardest for him.
Of course, firming his core and putting on some weight.

I remember last season he was working on his 3 point shot and then stopped. He needs a modern big jump shot. Not the three, but a mid would be nice.

He needs some confidence in the pick and roll. Diving to the basket and finishing threatens the defense. I'm glad that Vaughan made schemes around that in game 2.

This would secure his spot. Plus his extension is coming up...

Glad Caris made it out the bubble in one piece..I always hold my breath every time he goes down or even lands...This was a great opportunity for him esp with his work ethic he'll come back even better next year.

Next season(whenever that happens) is what its all about...Its literally all or nothing for this team. Marks has some really tough choices for the future going forward. Not just with roster decisions but coaching also.

Im for keeping the team as is for next year except Prince :scusthov: and just adding a reliable back up 4 ..Maybe Claxton can be that...Im all for bringing back TLC and Temple..We have team options on them...Only so much room on this roster tho so and bench needs a boost to win it all..

Kyrie/ Din/TJ
Levert/ Temple
Harris/ TLC/ Musa(his last year to prove it)
KD/ Kurucs/Claxton
Jordan/ Allen

Looks like we want pop but I think thats a pipe dream...Who knows though..maybe Marks previous relationship can convince him and Vaughn stays on staff as an assistant..

All in all with this crazy season we went through, I just cant wait till next season...

KD, Kyrie on the floor together in a Brooklyn uniform :wow:
