Most forced masterpiece in hip hop history.
Very good album but it was just another dope album in 96. Mightnt make my top 10 that year.
Didn't change the game in any meaningful way.
Couple of filler joints on there too.
nikkaS DIDNT START
PRETENDING THIS ALBUM
WAS A CLASSIC UNTIL 2001.
Thats when you supposed to.. not when it first comes out like these bozo Coli people do.
OH IT TOOK 5 YRS
FOR nikkaS TO REALIZE ILLMATIC
WAS A CLASSIC?
STOP IT
If it took 5 for people then fine.. everybody dont rush to judgement. Classic is supposed to be defined over time buddy
NAH
ONCE JAY WENT ON A CAMPAIGN
TO REWRITE HISTORY AND
CALL THE ALBUM A CLASSIC,
PPL FOLLOWED AND BEGAN
TO DO THE SAME.
MAYBE THAT WENT OVER YOUR HEAD.
When did The Coli become so overrun by bitter, hating ass nikkas? This thread wouldn't have gone left like this 5 years ago even.
Classic b*stards lol
jay changed the game and it never been the same since
Over the last 10 years, have listened to any other album from 96 more than Reasonable Doubt?
Y’all give Jay too much damn power lolYou know this album is a lot like IWW in the sense of how people feel about it now compared to then is different
I remember as a kid the sentiment with older people was IWW was some shiny bullshyt that just wasn’t Illmatic Pt 2
Reasonable Doubt on the other hand was just sandwiched between shyt other people may have cared about more locally much less nationally
The difference? People organically came around to IWW whereas Reasonable Doubt was practically campaigned into people’s consciousness by Jay-Z
Great Album
