Yes, because there’s only two singers in Jodeci. Devante IMO was a better producer and song writer than BabyFace… not taking anything away from latter because he’s one of the greatest but Devante was a beast with those keys, guitar and lyrics.

Boyz Two Men were vocally superior but just like Whitney, their music was so inoffensive and bland I just couldn’t take to it. I still play Jodeci today. Can’t remember anytime I’ve purposely listened to B2M.

I find it appalling when black folk say that CACs stealing our music, but literally defend vulgar shyt that makes it TOO easy for them to steal.

CACs couldn't steal rap when Pro black power was spitting. CACs couldn't steal Ebb when we were talking about wholesome love, because the wholesome/ classy side of black folk scares the Hell outta them.

Even when those white pop star groups like N SYNC gotten popular in the mid to late 90s, black RnB was still intact.

Let me rephrase. In terms of body of work, few people if any are seeing BabyFace. Devante had so much potential, he had Timbaland, Ginuwine and Missy under his wing.

But yeah, if he didn’t go on drugs and branched out more, he could’ve easily been the Quincy Jones of our era. Dude was that talented.

So do I think Devante is more accomplished than BabyFace? Absolutely not. But I definitely prefer the former’s production more.
