am I missing something arent we having the epidemic now? or did we cure aids or something? I thought we had more people living with HIV than ever before?

I remember watching documentaries about the shyt when I was a kid and it used to scare df out of me.
I remember going to the clinic to get tested and was already thinking about "whos gonna get my room when I die"
from HIV, to nikkas getting killed every 30 seconds, to drug addicts everywhere, i don't think i would've left the house in the 80s n early 90s
Scary shyt ...back then people didn't know what HIV/AIDS really was, I was stupid little, but I remember the news reports, people were thinking you can get it from food contamination, like someone spiting in your food or drinking off someone that looked sickly.
I had mad people die from that shyt but I didn't find out until I was a little older ...it was taking people out left and right, crack sells in the project hallways, kid gangs running rampant, I remember my peoples wouldn't let me in the house until I fought like 8 kids with razors by myself. I went in the building like Leonidus after he took out that wolf lol.
NYC made soldiers back then ...if a dude pulled out and blasted you was so psyched up you would've took 3 or 4 shells to the body while squeezing back.
No city in the US wanted that life with New York brehs....NO CITY.

LA was ...Chicago wasn't as bad as it is now though besides Cabrini, violence wise, I don't know about HIV/AIDS ...I know it hit New York hard as hell.
Most likely if you lived in a black area you knew someone who was living with it (or at least in retrospect that's what it feels like)

Im 19 and I barely met a person with HIV a couple months ago.
It doesn't really change anything ...but of course I was too young to go to the hospital when they were end stage or wasting. When I say them I hugged them up and my peoples seemed okay with it.
As an adult it was still like "whoa" when I found out someone had it ...people take care of themselves they can live normal lives. 2 people I've met didn't even look like they had it.
I actually work with HIV patients doing research. Prenatel care is really good right now, so even if the Mom has HIV, the kid doesn't necessarily have to get it. Even junkies have been pretty good with this nowadays

that is true im just speaking from my own experiences
It's still a problem, but I was surprised to see how much better it has gotten, even in poor communities (Chicago, ATL, NY...that's where we test)
Modern medicine is real good right now. shyt, even HIV is kinda like diabetes now. You don't necessarily have to die from it right away. We're lucky now
