She's hard to judge because she never really put a lot of effort into makeup, fashion etc.

I feel like if she did what most Hollywood women do with regards to style, she'd be decent. That just wasn't her lane.

Nothing wrong with that. She's a talented woman that made her bones in a tough field for women. Frankly she was probably better off doing it her way. If she looked like some thick-booty IG model, Whoopi might not have been taken seriously in the comedy game....especially back in those days.

Why would not finding her face beautiful automatically mean you are insecure?

Often time folk that didn't find her pretty (Back in the day and now) went out of their way to completely trash her and call her all sorts of ugly that was bordering on Cac levels of hatred. I could understand how most folk wouldn't find her attractive, but she certainly wasn't as ugly as folk made her out back in the day.

I don't know if people hated her, not quite old enough to have noticed her at the time she was younger.

People are always hard on women as if we are nothing beyong your face/t*ts/ass. She was/is a great actress who didn't have to rely on her (good or bad) looks to bring a role/character to life.
