Whoopi was ahead of her time. So was Tracey Chapman. They came out in the 1980s where people stuck on 80s beauty aesthetics.
Them being themselves and embracing that offended people in the jheri curl / S-curl 80s.
The 90s threw away some of the 80s hangups.

Take each of these women, and if they had some BAD sisters or cousins with similar features. Their looks would have hampered their success in that era. It was just different.

I agree to an extent some features as far as beauty kind of change every decade or so but whoppi just never had it...sure she would of probably been hot in the 1900s.

but she was never seen as an attractive woman. It would be akin to someone trying to say that Tiffany haddish with the bald head was beautiful.
