Same as you, OP. Tapes. Fourth generation, fukked up tracking tapes.

Still I'm thankful I could get a look at it in a country where wrestling didn't reach longer than WWF at that time.

West where the Sunsets
My mom’s coworker had a black box. She knew I liked wrestling and would record the PPVs. It was E stuff in the beginning, then WCW, then ECW.

It was GAC 99, about half of the show she recorded. Seeing Sid fukk up Kronos was :krs: When the ME was going I became intrigued with Taz; dude hitting all those suplexes was :ohhh:

That’s when I became a fan.

One night after coming home late.... happened to have the tv on as I was about to go to bed..... flicking through channels then I see some recaps of The Eliminators beating someone up.

Then I some shyt with the Samoan Gangsta Party talking shyt about some guys name New Jack and Mustafa and then they showed a recap of them attacking The Gangstas outside and one of the cats put New Jack head under the front of a car while his partner rev'd the engine up threatening to run him over and crush his skull:picard:

Then it cut to a match between The Samoan Gangsta party and some other team and then Natural Born Killers started to play and The Gangsta came to the ring and whooped they everyones ass with their theme playing the entire time:mjlol:

I was hooked right then and there to the fukkery:russ:

Dallas, Texas but living in Houston, Texas
First time was when they appeared on Raw. It was the Raw when Sabu dived off the old Raw blocks. I was 13 years old at the time. I had a cousin who lived in Baltimore who used to watch it and would tell me about it and would send me vhs tapes of it from like 1995 and 1996. I was intrigued because it was more violent and they played music from rock artists and rap artists. At the time I lived in Dallas and we didn't any channels that would show it.

When we got internet access in late 1998/early 1999 I would post on various wrestling message boards and they would talk about it. Then they announced they would debut on TNN. I was like TNN?! :dahell: I was a sophomore in high school at the time and played football but the night it was going to debuted I wanted to rush home from practice that night so I could watch it but I wasn't impressed. It wasn't the ECW I watched on vhs tape. Eventually one of the local channels in Dallas started playing Hardcore TV late Sunday night/early Monday morning but this was when ECW was dying. Justin Credible was getting the mega push, Lance Storm and Mike Awesome went to WCW, Taz went to the WWF, etc.

I can't watch ECW on the network because they don't have the original music. I had a bunch of tapes from 90s ECW, WWF, and WCW but my mom threw them away when I went off to college. I asked her why she did that and she said you stopped watching wrestling so I figured you didn't want them anymore. This was around summer 2003 which I did stop watching but l now I wish she didn't because there was some gems on there that aren't on the network. :snoop:

I can't even clown I use to watch roller jam after ECW on TNN. The only thing I legit remember about it was the old black dude that had the king gimmick lol

As for ECW my first exposure to it was the first invasion in 1997. Then I didn't see it again to the premier episode on TNN I remember there was legit buzz about it too one of my local newspapers had an article about it.

lmaooo I used to watch Roller Jam too. A lot of people had some type of character in that as well, I just can't recall much right now

I was 10 or 11 at the time (guessing 1999?). My friend told me about it when I was living in Jersey. He made an E-C-W sign with his hand and I thought it was cool. :heh: He actually ended up moving to Philadelphia. But I didn’t watch until I was channel surfing late at night. All I remember is seeing a Dudley Boyz match and Fred Durst in the intro. I didn’t give it a chance and didnt watch past that until I got the internet and downloaded old matches after seeing RVD in WWF.

My siblings and I would watch Rollerjam on TNN though. :snoop:

I remember that show. I used to watch it too at times. :russ:

Found it watching the Sunshine Network late night on a Friday. Told my friend about it who was a wrestling fan & had a cable box, and he recorded their PPVs on VHS.

That was the channel it was on? Was so long ago that I completely forgot if it was that one. Think I found it the same way. Is that channel even still around?

They merged it with Fox Sports now, so it's called Fox Sports Sun. There's a different Fox Sports Florida too. I think Fox Sports Sun tends to show Magic/Rays games while Fox Sports Florida shows Heat/Marlins games.
