Caught that joint at like 1 in the morning on local television one time and it was like Jerry Springer started a wrestling fed

Next week I started asking around and a couple of people swore by it

I was huge into rasslin’ magazines in the 90s-my preteen/teen days. That included any of the non PWI/Bill Apter rags. One of the glosser, colored joints started covering ECW regularly. Drew my interest because I recognized some of the wrestlers, plus it just looked crazy.

My homie who lived here in Chicago with his dad had the rest of his immediate fam over in Indiana. He mentioned they already had ECW on tv there. Even taped an ep and lemme borrow it. I thought that chit looked cool as hell, 5 dolla budget and all. And I was a hip-hop head who did listen to some rock as well, so yea...that program was 90’s all the way!

Copped an ECW mail order and bought a shirt (which holds up “till this day” I Love that shirt) and the Big Ass Extreme Bash vhs. I brought that tape to school once, we watched it in one of my class, marks saw the opening with Sandman infiltrating a jobber bout and caning everyone on sight...them dudes like, “Man they fighting for Real on here!:ooh:

Anyway...Barely Legal PPV...ECW eventually on Chicago TV...rest is history!

I was 10 or 11 at the time (guessing 1999?). My friend told me about it when I was living in Jersey. He made an E-C-W sign with his hand and I thought it was cool. :heh: He actually ended up moving to Philadelphia. But I didn’t watch until I was channel surfing late at night. All I remember is seeing a Dudley Boyz match and Fred Durst in the intro. I didn’t give it a chance and didnt watch past that until I got the internet and downloaded old matches after seeing RVD in WWF.

My siblings and I would watch Rollerjam on TNN though. :snoop:

I can't even clown I use to watch roller jam after ECW on TNN. The only thing I legit remember about it was the old black dude that had the king gimmick lol

As for ECW my first exposure to it was the first invasion in 1997. Then I didn't see it again to the premier episode on TNN I remember there was legit buzz about it too one of my local newspapers had an article about it.

A classmate told me about Taz - had me thinking he was a 6'4 monster.

His entrance (shot from below) had me thinking the same.

I was a Taz fan, but ultimately letdown in how WWE booked him and his injuries.

Fans were ready to get behind him vs Austin. .

I didn't answer how I got put on. Me and my brother new ECW was airing from convos at school but didn't know what time/channel. My cuz was living with our granny at the time was looking thru her tv guide(:flabbynsick:) and saw it on there as a TBD program on Sat. We didn't know the time but we at least knew the channel and day. We literally stayed up trying to watch and fell sleep only to wake up seeing a clip of Bam Bam Bigelow throwing Spike in the crowd from a recent show. shyt had us both like:krs::gladbron:
