For a long time i didn't even know this company existed.

I had a homeboy that happened to throw in a RVD tape in his basement one night and i was blown away.

I didn't start fukking with it tilll late in the game.

I guess they were all in the magazines,if you bought them back then.

But i OD'd on the ECW tapes after that :heh:

Reading about them in magazines like Pro Wrestling Illustrated when they were Eastern Championship Wrestling and they had all the former stars like Don Muraco, Terry Funk, Eddie Gilbert, etc. Kept up with them religiously, especially living in the Memphis territory.

Got my parents to add the DirecTV regional sports package in 1995 so I was able to catch the weekly episodes on SportsChannel Philadelphia & MSG Network. I still got the episodes on VHS.

First heard of them in the Apter mags pre extreme and then noticed all the wild shyt they did in there
Eventually found some tapes and there was one channel late on TV used to show them occasionally
Had strong word of mouth

ECW was the gutter trash indie play fighting of the 90’s, no one but the marks of that era knew it even existed. Keep it mind that wrasslin actually had a casual audience during that time and the marks, unlike now, were actually (and thankfully) in the minority, so it remained in the bingo halls.

But now that all that’s left are the marks, they’d have you believe that it was actually a relevant promotion :mjlol:

I remember first seeing them on Raw when they did that "invasion" back when the stage had the big RAW letters for an entrance when Sabu jumped off it

I was 10 or 11 at the time (guessing 1999?). My friend told me about it when I was living in Jersey. He made an E-C-W sign with his hand and I thought it was cool. :heh: He actually ended up moving to Philadelphia. But I didn’t watch until I was channel surfing late at night. All I remember is seeing a Dudley Boyz match and Fred Durst in the intro. I didn’t give it a chance and didnt watch past that until I got the internet and downloaded old matches after seeing RVD in WWF.

My siblings and I would watch Rollerjam on TNN though. :snoop:

Koalabama and the Cosmos
One night on a Friday or maybe a Saturday, I was flicking through the channels and stumbled on this wrestling show that was not WWE or WCW:ohhh:. It was like 2am in the morning, so I was like :yeshrug:it could be good. All I knew was that I seen this guy named Tommy Dreamer hit the living shyt out of this dusty grungy dude named Raven with a stop sign:gladbron:. Then they were playing promos with real music:whoo:. Seeing the Gangstas murdering Public Enemy :krs:. I was like :noah:I want more NOW:ufdup:. So the next day and the day after that leading into channel 48 becoming a thing, I began to seek this new promotion of extreme measures:whew: . Once it hit channel 48 it was a wrap:banderas:......................................until 98 :beli:when the promotion became a WWF/E territory.
