nikka turned into a pawg before our very eyes
Damn near my whole family attended the Victory tour stop in Dallas in 84. I was six and I was more into Prince, the Dallas Cowboys, and Mr. T. So I was more happy just to be at Texas stadium and while pretty much 60000 ppl had on Jackson gear. I proudly displayed my brand new Mr. T shirtWord ..Mike is very interesting..imma be doing another thread this time about the fukkery behind the Victory tour.
But Mike didn't even wanna go on the tour nor did he drink Pepsi was pressured into the tour by his mom and then he does this Pepsi commercial and gets his scalp burned starting his painkiller habit
This board really skews younger
Anyway, without getting into my own personal feelings or what folks were thinking. The timeline of the color change discussion is like this:
1986 - Grammy Awards - The first time most people noticed/remarked on Michael looking lighter. Captain EO gives people a better look later that year
1987 - Bad cover/video - Lighter and awful chin. His appearance look drastic but before this there are already stories in the tabloids that Michael is recluse.
1989 - Aresnio appearance - Michael is no longer the Bad lightskin era and is closer to white.
1991 - Black or White premieres on Fox and Michael is basically the same pale white color he is for the rest of his life minus a few surgeries later.
seems that people debate whether mike bleached his skin or if he had vitiligo
why can't it be both?
Chemical-induced Vitiligo

mike was already doing things to achieve a fairer look way before the skin thing
maybe he was trying to look like the debarges (who were dating his sisters)
and things just got out of hand due to misuse of the products
reminds me of a quote from rolling stone back in the day (1992)
this was notably, before the oprah interview...
I remember this being a nickname cacs loved to use for him.Born in 82......Mike was such a superstar...no one cared....if anything it added to his his celebrity as wacko jacko
Yea Randy had work done after a car accident I believe. Him and Mike looked alot like each other post Off The Wall .The tragic and ironic thing is that two of the three things that made him "look white" were coincidental and out of his control. First the vitiligo and then the Pepsi accident that left him permanently bald/scarred forcing him to wear those wigs. The third thing is the plastic surgery but without the other two he would basically look like the rest of his family with their work done.
didn’t care
ppl might’ve laughed
I remember a lot of jokes about him wanting to be white
but there was no social media around to gather a pulse on how ppl felt or to make it a matter of “national crisis”
1st of all, don't look at me like that
There are pics with his vitiligo patches from the 70s/early 80s
agreed as far as public pronouncementsAnyway, without getting into my own personal feelings or what folks were thinking. The timeline of the color change discussion is like this:
