to sum it up, '02-'03 werent great but they were the last memorable years.(sidenote: '02-03 >>>> 2001).

'04-06 werent memorable but they were the last respectable years.

theres stuff that i loved but also stuff that i hated. and i could no longer even tolerate the radio, 106th & park, etc.

and yes, i added 2006 cuz it was the last good year. dont see why it gets hated on. a good amount of quality mixtapes, albums & singles.

The first 5 years 00-05 (with late 01 to 03 being the most memorable years of the decade) were dope. Late 2001 to 2003 were some of the most exciting times in Hip Hop with Jay vs Nas, Beans vs Kiss, State Prop vs D-Block, 50 vs Ja, DMX vs Ja, Nas back on top, the rebirth of Cam and formation of Dipset, rebirth of 50 and formation of G-Unit, Roc A Fella at their height, Eminem in his prime with the Eminem Show and 8 Mile movie, Neptunes at their peak, Just Blaze and Kanye as the underdogs in production, mixtape scene being crazy, internet wasn't totally popping yet so in order to listen to the exclusive joints or freestyles you still had to listen to the radio or mixtapes, etc. But 06-08 were the dark ages with the snap, ringtone, and auto tune tracks plaguing the scene.

^i prefer freestyles to the "knuck if you buck" beat over the actual song.

theres a reason why nobody knew the names of any of the members that didnt have tittays.

I was born in 91 and although I grew up on 90s music much of my life and acknolewdge the mid 90s as the best period I would say this is the year that resonates with me and my peers the most due to my age obviously. But how did you old heads feel about lets say 2002-2004. To me, the singles were undeniable especially in the summer. Lets take a trip down memory lane for a minute:

Some tracks that will go down in history for me:

2002
Air Force Ones
Grindin
Oh Boy
Wanskta
Still Fly

2003
Like a Pimp :dj2: (TV volume got turned up all the way whenever this dropped)
What we do
Dipset Anthem
Rock n Roll
Aint It Man
So Into You w/ Tamia
Neva Scared
24s
In da Club
Through the Wire
Ridin Spinners
Dirt off your shoulder

(Most of these were in the summer mind you^)

2004
Knuck if you buck :dj2::dj2::dj2:
Get em Girls/Killa Cam (Cold ass winter :wow:)
How we do
Breathe
Go DJ
Get Your Shine On
Game Over (Flip, I know yall remember this :myman:)
Let Me In (Young Buck)

Random songs I mentioned but there are really too many. I didnt even really go in on the cross over or R&B hits like Field Mob - Sick of Being Lonely.

Dont even get me started on Lil Jon :shaq: and TVT/BME.
Did the old heads fukk with this music...or was it all drivel to yall? To me it was in 2006 where music really began falling off

A lot of that shyt was wack to me, though i fukked with Kanye and 50. Lil Jon was the worst thing to happen to that time period imo. Mainstream hip hop is better now than it was during the crunk period.
