I was out of college already at that time. I hated all of that shyt. Last albums i liked were supreme clientele and blueprint.

I liked the songs Grinding and Oh Boy. I actually liked a lot of Just Blaze's songs during that time. But that's about it.

Also I'm from the east coast so a lot of that stuff looked like modern day minstrel shows. That crunk stuff looked like some yes massa stuff. It was a bit of a surprise. That time also killed sampling and brought in baby soft keyboard beats and singing.

:flabbynsick:
Im outta school too but i dont see myself EVER hating on the new shyt.
02 - 05 was some good music.
shyt,, 2012 is some good music.:ohhh:

lol. Famous last words. You will hate new shyt. Death, taxes, and hating new shyt can't be avoided.

I don't really know how people that came up at that time view music today. To me it's all keyboard music but at least they were rapping still to a point. Now they do that whisper rap stuff saying like two words every bar with that corny one word punchline at the end. That's the worst stuff of any era EVER imo. Plus half this stuff sounds like pop/euro dance music.

It would be interesting to see if people don't like 2012 compared to that time. I could see that for sure.

Pretty much same for me as well. You have some gems here and there but overall it was wack. One reason being EVERYTHING was overdone. You could basically take any artist and substitute their albums and no one could tell the difference.

I liked it. It was a good era with a lot of technical depth and musical variety in the mainstream. You could turn on the radio and hear a song from every region in 20 minutes.

Plus 01-02 was like the peak of the NY mixtape game. I remember going to Jamaica Ave once a month and getting tapes... they were allll firreeeeeee

I had no qualms about that timeline; anything I didn't like, I didn't listen to.

Yea I was in high school at the time. Remember reciting camron lyrics for days with my people. Dope stuff from fab jada dipset outkast jays nas etc. Only shyt was the amount of love ATL music was getting that wasn't good. And of course the battle DVDs like smack and first round draft picks was heavy.
